what can I make for my wedding in June?

We're getting married in June, and in typical fashion we're pretty disorganised about it all. But I do have a bit of time til then - not much money but a bit of time.. does anyone have any ideas of things I could make - decorative things that are inexpensive, etc, say? it's an outdoorsy wedding, marquee in a field, camping etc. don't want matchy-matchy decor, but would like to make it special.

We made three paper crane chandeliers that we hung from the middle of the marquee. We also used paper cranes as the place names. We didn't make 1000 but we came pretty close and yes I can now fold the things in my sleep.

... and Congratulations!

I saw on a wedding site, where they collected tin cans, got the labels off and made the sharp bits safe, then painted (with spray paint I think) and punched holes in them with a large nail. Then with a wire handle made lovely 'shabby chic' tealight holders.

melodyangel I was just thinking last night of doing paper cranes or something similar for place names!

Following on from the tea light suggestion above I heard about a couple who were saving the glass jars from c

Sorry - iPhone!!
Anyway, the kept the jars from cooking sauces, removed the labels and put in candles. You can also make your own little paper designs to wrap around the jar to fit in with your decor if you wanted. The pictures looked lovely!

Have a look at rockmywedding.co.uk too, their DIY section has loads of fantastic ideas.

We had a similar wedding, and DiY'ed the flowers, cake, iPod disco, and stationery.

I saw the Martha Stewart website, but desided flowers were the only website I needed. I couldn't be bothered with bunting.

To save money we also used family cars, rather than hire, and didn't have a lot of the extras (videographer, make up artist and hairdresser - did own).

Rock My Wedding is a good site.

oooh, made my own veil too.

flowers were the only decoration we needed, even.

Your wedding sounds very much like mine, I made various things including personalised puppet place settings, the guests loved finding themselves instead of their name (took me bloody ages to make said puppets though!) a puppet theatre (which the children could then use the puppets for), a Happy Families seating plan (ie happy family cards with guests name written on them pegged to some garden twine!) a rustic signpost that told guests where the bar/guestbook etc were, a photobooth which consisted of a cheap polaroid type camera I picked up on ebay, a large table cloth hanging from a tree for a backdrop and some speech bubble chalk boards my hubby made, worked brilliantly Xmas Grin
