Probably a very dumb underwear question

Ok, so I have my dress, it is boned at the front and has hook and eye fastenings inside at the back which pull me in nicely in all the right places.

I am now thinking about underwear, and am puzzled. Will I need a bra? Or corset type thingy, as the dress has its own in built cups, so might be like wearing two bras???
I think my bosoms need hoiking a bit though (BFing has a lot to answer for... Wink)

Second question, suspenders and stockings.... I dont get how you go for a wee if you have suspenders on, as surely your knickers would get all caught up in the straps?
Oh god I'm so clueless sometimes. I have visions of me falling off the loo in a heap of underwear, legs, and satin.

What would you recommend for underwear? And what would you definitely avoid?
I apologise, I haven't put this very well at all, I am in a bit of a fluster.

That's a very good knicker question!

MrsCampbellBlack · 11/09/2011 12:19

Knickers over the top of your suspender belt.

I would have thought if the dress has an internal corset and it fits you properly you shouldn't really need one. Can't quite see how you could wear a bra inside a corsetted dress.

missnevermind · 11/09/2011 12:23

Knickers over suspenders in real life. Suspenders over knickers in photo shoots.

TrillianAstra · 11/09/2011 12:24

I'd focus mostly on how it looks when the dress is on.

By the time the dress comes off you'll both be very tired.

ThePrincessRoyalFiggyrolls · 11/09/2011 12:25

Firstly how big are your norks?
If large then you might need extra support for your own comfort Grin

You need to make sure that what you wear under your dress doesn't show through or affect the flow of your dress. Mine was a very heavy crepe sort of fabric on the bottom half which hung beautifully but, we discovered, showed nearly everything.

I end up with very functional underwear for the actual day and something a bit more special for the bedroom. We were completely shattered by then though and I can't remember if I even wore it Blush

Carrotsandcelery · 11/09/2011 12:31

When I say it showed, it wasn't see through at all but if affected the flow, like exaggerated vpl.

My friend had a boned dress and all she wore was a very, very skimpy thong. The dress did the rest - and she is fairly well endowed although as skinny as skinny can be. Grin

sittinghippo · 11/09/2011 12:32

Really not very big Figgy Sad just lower than I'd like them to be Grin

I never would have thought knickers over the top was the answer, but it makes perfect sense.

So I can forget bra/corset/basque then and just go with knickers, suspenders and stockings - ooh er. Wont I feel like I've forgotten something though?!

I'm quite certain you wont be able to notice my underwear when the dress is on carrots, I suppose I dont want to look like a tit (scuse the pun) at the crucial moment!

Blush not like he hasnt seen it all before, we've got two kids FGS!

I got those invisible pants for under my dress huge and vvvvv sexy :). DH didn't appear to mind very much.

BTW remember to take (and wear) your wedding undies to one of your dress fittings, just to make sure it all looks OK. Dont wait until your wedding day before putting it all together.

I wore suspenders under my dress, but found that the clippy bits showed up as bumpy bits under the fabric, so I added an underskirt which sorted out that problem. But I had about 6 weeks to find a solution.

fuzzywuzzy · 12/09/2011 12:45

what about hold ups instead of suspenders, or is that stupid?

LoveBeingAMummyAgain · 12/09/2011 12:54

Get a bra or whatever and take it with you but please take advice from the fitter. I ended up not wearing one cause it really did not look right.
