Didn't really know where topost this but hoping there may be a seamstress or someone in the know over here...
I'm buying my own bridesmaid dress for my friends wedding, have seen a new one onebay for a fraction of the normal price but its a size 18 and im a 12-14.
Its strapless, back zip, not too much detail, oh its this,
www.dessy.com/dresses/bridesmaid/d472/

Anyway will it alter down to a 12-14 ok and roughly how much would that cost?
Thanks

Sorry I don't know the answer but thought I'd reply just to suggest you post this over in the arts & crafts thread as there might be some keen sewers over there. This topic is really quiet.

If it helps I had to order my wedding dress in a size 26 because teh stoopid sizing said my hips were a 26, the rest of me was a 16 and I'm not that much out of proportion!! It sized down perfectly, but that was all to do with my dressmaker being amazing!

On looking at your link there might be a bit of a problem with the "rouching" on the front, but an 18 to a 12-14 isn't too much of a drop. A good seemstress should be able to sort it for you, but it might cost a bit. Make sure your bargain really is a bargain!

Thanks both of you, i think i may have changed my mind anyway. Wasn't this fussy with my own wedding dress but just can't make up my mind!

Have you looked at the Jim Hjelm range? They are really nice.
