Your thoughts please on these gift ideas for sister's wedding

I need a to buy thoughtful and unique gift for my lovely sister and hubby on their wedding day, my budget is around £100.

I had the following ideas:
A crystal vase engraved with their wedding date
Naming a star after them
A wedding photo album and memories box

What do you think? Can anyone offer any other ideas? I want something really special and a bit different. Help!!

It depends how creative you are, but one of my very favourite gifts was from some friends who spent a couple of afternoons at one of those paint your own pottery places. They decorated some crockery with our names, wedding date and some lovely artwork that is personal to us. I love it!

To be honest, they are all quite twee ideas. And not very practical. Would she like this sort of thing because I wouldn't.
Personally I would prefer some really nice photo frames.

Notonthehighstreet.com have some lovely ideas. You can find a picture of the happy couple's wedding venue and an artist will copy the picture and personalise it with names/dates ect... Or you can have 3 maps of significant place's in the couple's lives eg where they met/got married/engaged/honeymoon shaped into hearts and then framed.

How about some lovely new bedding? I was just lusting after some of the stuff in NOTHS too.

Out of your suggestions I would definitely appreciate the photo album and memory box most, as it's something I could flick back through. I'd think the star was a waste of money, something that's a nice thought but gets put in a box and forgotten about.

Of course, it's such an individual thing that she may feel the complete opposite - you know her best.

Another idea I have heard used for wedding gifts is buying rose bushes named after them - there are hundreds of varieties of roses and if they have fairly common names it's quite likely that you would be able to find a variety which uses her name and another which uses his for them to plant in their garden.

The name-a-star thing is such bolleaux. Engraved crystal vase is a bit Alan Partridge.

Do you have (or can you collect) pictures of her and her fella? You could put them together in a blurb.com book. Personal, thoughtful and not remotely naff.

Ok, I'd hate the star thing, such a waste of money. The crystal vase thing is a bit 1980's.. the photo album is closer to what I'd like I think..

One of my mate's sister did the guest book at their wedding as a present, she bought a lovely album, hand decorated each page and then went around getting people to sign it and took poloroids (or the modern equivalent, fuji mini instant pix or whatever they're called) and stuck them in. It was such a lovely book in the end!

I gave both my Sisters an album from the hen weekend and. a getting ready for the wedding album and a wedding album I also gift a first year album as first birthday gifts into days society of digital PCs and albums we never print pictures anymore and these are what you need when showing pictures esp to small children IMO

What about offering to buy her an item of her wedding jewellery?
Not on the high street has some fab items.
Or pay for somewhere special to spend their wedding night.

If I had my wedding again I would have preferred travel vouchers to the vases & photo albums. My dh set up lists at Debenhams & Argos which was a bit boring. A list at trailfinders is more my style & I would have topped up a bit more cash to go on amazing trips with my dh.

How about a voucher for a nice spa hotel or such to be used after wedding.
If they like wine/champagne a nice bottle to be opened on their 1st anniversary.

Not a photo album, not champaign, not photo album...that's what everyone buys!!

We got a "front page cover in the sun" it's amazing... What about a drawing of them together, a weekend away...

Personally i would say something useful. We got a load of things that we'll never use (8 cake stands for christs sake!), a crystal vase that now has 8 months dust on it (does she have fresh flowers in the house), and a load of stuff i'm dying to ebay but DH wont let me.
What we did get that was great was a set of towels and a toaster, as like most people we had eeeked out our old toaster until it was on its last legs. A guest who came to the house a few days before the wedding noticed our prehistoric toaster and thankfully got us a new one! Try popping round to their house before hand and keep an eye out for things that may need replacing?
