Can anyone recommend a hog roast or similar caterers?

We are getting married this July and trying to find a really good hog roast caterers. We'd like one who will provide really good salads etc as well, not just pig in a bun! I'm also considering other caterers who do really good simple summer food - barbecue-y type stuff. We'll be getting married in London. Any recommendations would be really welcome!

no recommendations. Perhaps get hog roast from butchers, and salads from a caterer.

I second the idea about trying a local butcher, that's what we are doing (they do their own catering too it seems). This is near liverpool, so not much use in me suggesting this company, but it's worth trying your local one. x

My boss does this exactly! Unfortunately he is based on the Norfolk/Suffolk border... not sure you'd want to pay for 100 miles worth of petrol Grin

My recommendation would be to contact local butchers to see if they do an outside catering service. At the very least you could order the meat at a discount/hire a BBQ and cook the food yourselves. The other suggestion would be to haunt farmers' markets/food events/posh London markets (thinking of the big food market near Southwark [?] Cathedral) where butchers have outside food stands - these butchers are more likely to do a sideline in catering. Once you have the meat sorted you can always order salads from M&S/Waitrose etc and have them on a self-service buffet.

Good luck!
