wedding next year , help please?

partner of 4 years n i plan to tie the knot september 2012. budget of £3000-£4000. anyone got married on similar budget recently? ive seen a good package for just over £2000 but im quite interested in seeing how that price would compare to a regastry office wedding & village hall hire price. can anyone tell me how much they paid for a reg office&hall wedding? thanks all.

We're having a registry office then village green with marquee type thing. We're just under £1000. On a Saturday in June!

To be honest if you like the package and can afford it I would give it serious consideration as village hall weddings can be a lot of work. Does that price include food and wine?

12 peice each finger buffet for 60, alchols on us though. its tempting because it will save me alot of stress planning, but i do like a bargain... expesh seen as its only for one day

I'm doing the church/marquee thing. It's a lot of extra work and you do have to think about things like table linen and making sure someone brings a generator and the time consuming getting the place decorated

(the reason we didn't go for our Village Hall was that it's really not big enough and decorating it would have been a proper headache as it looks like 'a village hall')

Part of me wishes I'd gone with a package at a hotel - though none around us were big enough for 120 people.

Village Halls are usually about £15 - £20 per hour for hire if that helps, you will have on site toilets, catering and power.

PS - marquee option for 60 was about £1,000 and toilets to hire was about £350 if that helps at all.

When hiring a hall, you need to check what you are permitted to have. For example, my friend had her wedding in church, and the buffet was in a church hall, although not the one where she was married. They were able to provide their own buffet, have a disco and her BIL'S band for entertainment, and a mobile bar. The only thing they were not allowed, was any form of decoration which needed to be pinned, nailed or stuck to any part of the interior! Needless to say, she wasn't able to decorate much within her budget.
