ok, here's my plan - where are the flaws?

3.30pm wedding in church

4.30 nibbles and drinks while we do the photos around the marquee in the field next to the church

5.30 tuck into a bunch of home made cakes
6.pm speeches and cutting 'the' cake
General mingling throughout that lot with nice summery sound track in the background
7.30 BBQ and disco (with pre arranged music as I'm rather anal about music!)

130 people coming to the whole thing.

Childrens tent with games in the afternoon and then story telling, snuggling and childminders in the evening so parents can have a boogie then scoop up sleeping children when it's time to go home.

Like the idea of nibblies / drinks while the photos are ongoing - we did this and they seemed to take forever...

...the fact that my God mother (90) managed to drink a pint of sherry in the meantime.....

Try and get permission from your priest to have photos taken during the service (by your official), too - it might save time later (and our outside shots took more than an hour - and I didn't want to take more than half an hour over them)

Sounds like the perfect wedding - not too long, not too much faffing around.

Have you got a bad-weather plan for the field/photos bit? For you and the guests.

cos we're only having light nibbles rather than canapes and thought people might want some carbs somewhere between 3pm and 7pm!

Also I love cake but hate fruit cake... lovely fiance wants a fruit cake and I don't want to have a 'sponge' wedding cake and a fruit one as well.

you cna't have any of the crap hymns that everyone chooses (and without starting a debate on this, banned hmyns are: Lord of the Dance, All things bright and beautiful, Morning has broken)

and you can't go in to The bridal march or come out to the Wedding march.

cake early is great. one of the things people liked most about my wedding.

Actually, I had two cakes, one to cut and serve later (with the bacon sarnies at midnight) and one pre cut and served immediately on arrival (with the other canapes). Went down v well.

and I'm stuck between a couple for walking out although I'm inclined towards Signed Sealed Delivered for a good many reasons

we had one cake that was partly fruit and partly sponge.
we didn't get round to cutting it/servign it on the day, and the sponge went mouldy by the time we did it. :(

If you have sponge in your cake, don't forget to serve it!

We go to church, but lots of our guests don't so we're sticking with lovely wesleyan hymms that people know and can join in with!

Seth Lakeman is just lush and given we're not exactly teenagers we felt tbs was just hitting the right note.

we're having 2 'first' dances one for me and him which is Everything (because I said 'she's so lovely was a bit uptempo) and the other one is Better together for me, him and littleding because he thinks all three of us are getting married :)
