who knew there was a wedding section on mumsnet let alone the fact i'd ever be on it.

But here i am. DP and i made it official on saturday after 8 years, 2 kids, 2 homes and a near death experience later! :)

My first query, we have numbers of about 100 for meal (this is me making it small) and i'm trying to work out if i'm cheaper just using a wedding venue or getting a hall where i can hire a bar and get caterers. Any experience??

Oh and i'm sure this will be my first post of thousands...

Congratulations RueLaChesty!

No idea about your queries but looking forward to your posts!
DP proposed yesterday after 18 years. These men do like to take their time!

Good luck!

I actually never even got a proposal we just kinda discussed and DP (Sorry DF Grin) just said lets set a date! :)

Although its been 3 days and my head is already hurting with the planning! Shock

Thought I would go a buy myself a pretty notebook for all the planning stuff. I find it all a lot less scary when it's written down, especially as I always cover everything in doodles!

Are you planning for this year? Sounds like you are having a lovely big wedding!

RueLaChesty · 11/01/2011 11:28

Next year, september 2012. We tried to go small but my dad has 10 sibling and DP's mum has 12 so before we even start inviting friends our wedding is already massive!

Its quite scary. I just want to get the church and venue booked and then leave it a few months and start planning again. I returned to work last week after a years mat leave so need to focus on that just now!

Are you having a big do? Are you doing it soon?

Congratulations! So exciting. I am getting married in 4 months today. Have planned nothing at all so far! We went and gave our notice at the registy office last week which was very exciting. We only want something very small though so have deliberately chosen a weekday wedding as a way if keeping numbers down.

Hopefully about 50 and hopefully this year. So much to do but I am going to try and enjoy all the planning. Think I may be on here a lot asking for advice and just wanting to share the excitement. I love hearing about people's wedding plans and days!

Congratulations!

I'm also starting to plan...can we hold each others' hands please? I'm a bit overwhelmed by it all Confused
