Gift for evening reception?

Someone I know is getting married in a couple of weeks. DH and I have been invited to the evening reception.

When I asked about what gift they would like I was told that a gift wasnt necessary, but that they would like travel vouchers.
Im wondering what amount it would be appropriate to spend - I was looking at a previous thread that said it was considered bad form for evening guests to be expected to give presents, however I would like to get them something.

Any advice about how much would be appropriate? I was thinking £20/£25 or £30 - does any of that sound about right or would it make me look like I had got it wrong?

Thanks

I think that is fine, we tend to buy a gift or give vouchers for £25/30 for evening invites or if we're declining then £50 if we're going all day. The invite tends to dictate the closeness of the relationship, so we spend more on all day-ers than evening ones.

But if things are a little tight, I think it's OK to take a nice bottle of wine or box of chocs for them to enjoy when they get back from the honeymoon.

Thanks for that, good to have some reassurance. Smile

If it's a really good friend, then yeah, about 20/25 or if not (ie, work colleague), then I'd go with bottle of port or pretty picture frame.
