This has just been on our East Midlands weather forecast about a tornado near Market Harborough yesterday.
(There was a warning on the BBC forecast that the language is rather strong, so possibly don't have the sound on and young ears present at the same time!)

bad case of real life intefering this week.
Unless there was damage on the ground this was a funnel cloud and not a tornado. Still very interesting.

Noticed you weren't on much last week, OYBBK.
They called it a tornado on the East Midlands news ~ I guess a 'cloud funnel' is so not exciting!
A few more pictures from the Harborough Mail here.

there is a fairly big problem with news reporters calling things tornadoes when they aren't. TORRO uses a rigorous system for determining whether things are funnel clouds/tornadoes/straight line wind damage. After each suspected report site investigators go out and assess the area looking for damage and what sort it is/what direction it lies on. They also interview eye witnesses and look at radar returns and local weather conditions. The discussions are fascinating, sometimes results are inconclusive and that sparks a good debate!

on those pictures you can't tell whether they hit the ground. Good pictures though
