Did you notice how clear the skies were today?

I don't think I've ever seen a completely blue sky before with no vapour trails. Lovely.

Pretty cloudy in Edinburgh.

Valpollicella · 17/04/2010 23:02

Wasn't it lovely in a weird kind of way?

I also felt quieter? I don't know that was really the case, and I don't exactly live under a flight path or anything, but it just felt, I dunno, stiller or something?

EvilTwins · 17/04/2010 23:04

We still had to put up with the "pleasure flights" from the piddly little airport near us.

Molesworth · 17/04/2010 23:04

I never notice noise from planes normally, but I did notice the quiet and stillness today - it was lovely (but I was sneezing the whole time I was out )

SparklyGothKat · 17/04/2010 23:04

I live under a flight path and it was strange not hearing the planes overhead, my Ds2 is missing them though, he likes to wave at the planes

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/04/2010 23:18

some brownish haze towards the horizon, but above I have never seen such a perfect pale blue sky before. kept looking uo and marvelling at all that empty space.

I live under a flight path. It's lovely atm. I do like watching the planes but am really enjoying the peace.

It will be interesting to see how the lack of flights (and con trails) influences the regional temperature during this period.
After 9/11 when planes were grounded for 3 days, there was a significant and measurable increase in temperature of about 1C over the US because of the reduction in clouds seeded by aircraft.

Although perhaps the presence of the ash itself will compensate? I imagine there are plenty of scientists already at work on this...

MARIOMCOLE . . Its was great and its like that most days in Austrailia. I can remember living there years ago and looking up with the sun shining all day and no clouds from one day to the next. We get some awful rainy weather in the UK. . . . .!!
