Hi everyone,

I’m sitting here with a massive jumper on and the heating still nudging its way up, and I can’t help but wonder—is it just me, or is it ridiculously cold for this time of year?
What’s it like where you are? Are you getting any of that promised sunshine

We are often on a uk short during the first week of April due to wedding anniversary and I’d say this time it has been colder than previous years. Not by much though, and we were just discussing that winter has been mild, very few frosts or iced up window screens in the last few months for us ( London area).

I think it’s definitely typical for the time of year, been looking back through photos on my phone!

HeddaGabbles · 04/04/2026 07:09

I definitely think it’s much colder than normal. Although I remember snow in April a few years ago.

No not really. Easter is always mix and match-some years warm and sunny, some actual snow. I work outside all day and I can confirm that Good Friday 2025 was drizzly and chilly ( we are all in hats and waterproofs on the pic from last year that we took, and yesterday was similar in the morning, but warmer by the afternoon. Average really.
This past winter was the wettest one I can remember though.

I live in a southern European country and this time last year I was living in front of a fan. This year, I'm sleeping under 2 duvets and wearing my fleece and sheepskin slippers...

Yes! Winter feels longer with every year that goes by and harder to tolerate. Another sign of aging perhaps?! As soon as DH and I can retire we're off to sunnier climates from Jan to March each year.

It has felt cold this week in London when out and about - it's the lack of sun and the pesky wind!

Coconutter24 · 04/04/2026 08:31

We’ve had quite a few warm days recently. I think it’s just the days when the sky is grey it makes it seem miserable and we’ve had such a long grey and wet winter it feels like it’s gone on forever! I do remember plenty of years though where we’ve had lots of snow at this time of year

whirlyhead · 04/04/2026 08:36

It’s lovely where I am - early 20s. It’s been very windy lately though which has made it cooler. This winter was a lot wetter than normal. I’m in Mallorca.

My birthday is end of April. I've seen heavy snow the week before and then glorious sunshine on my actual birthday. Sadly the last couple of years rather than sunshine, it's been rain but still milder than the beginning of April. So no, I don't think it is colder than usual.

our heating is off and it’s fine (but we are in London so definitely warmer than up north). I haven’t taken the seedlings out yet as I still think it’s a bit cold at night for them!

cmonspring · 04/04/2026 08:47

Yes!
I remember this time last year we spent the first week of the Easter break on the south west coast and it was glorious!
