Need to travel East to West on Friday am - will we make it ?

My dh is being fairly bullish but we need to travel from near Ipswich to Bristol by car to get to Bristol for a funeral on Friday morning. I’m worried about the weather - any thoughts or things we could do to mitigate. We have to be there by 12 !

thekingfisher ~ It's all a bit of a mess ~ I don't think the metoffice are entirely sure which areas are going to see snow. I think you'll be ok travelling Friday morning but I'd keep an eye on what the metoffice are saying throughout tomorrow. It'll probably just be a question of leaving really early and allowing more time for your journey, Friday morning...

The storm is due to blow through most of tomorrow however the snow isn't predicted much before 1800hrs with most of it expected before midnight. You may at least have an indication of what's happening before you go to bed?

@thekingfisher ~ it's that uneasy feeling of having to do a long journey to be somewhere important, together with the added stress that the weather might 'throw a spanner in the works,' even worse when no one's sure what form that weather might be!

(This has been suggested when we've had weather like this before ~ if the metoffice are saying it's going to be bad, is booking a hotel room in the Bristol area for tomorrow night and leaving tomorrow afternoon an option?)

We can’t go this afternoon unfortunately and I think if we left tonight we’d be in an equally tricky situation as everything kicks off. We are planning to keep watching and waiting through today and plan to set off really early. Complicated by ds then after funeral needing to drive to Cumbria ! But that is social so have no qualms in getting him to bin that off if I can.
