Travelling across M62 today…..

Had been planning to drive Yorkshire to Merseyside (and back). We’ve got a fair amount of snow here, can any kind MNetters advise what it’s like en route - Rochdale, Oldham, Manchester etc?

obviously deciding whether to go or not.

Check Manchester Evening News but I think M62 is down to single lane over the Pennines!

The best thing to look at is the traffic setting on Google maps for live traffic flow, there is a mix of yellow, green and red but mainly yellow telling you it is slow going. There is also a motorway camera website so you can look at recent photos

Personally, unless you have to travel in this sort of weather I wouldn't risk it.

@EducatingArti yes, that’s the stretch I was particularly worried about!

It's the only trans Pennine route open so will have extra traffic.

@HandlerOfGoo The camera at J22 ( highest part of M62) is so covered in snow that you can't see anything!

Very snowy in the Penines. About 4 inches

Don't do it. I nearly got stuck in snow on the M62 years ago (near that farm) and it was terrifying.

I've also read on MEN that there is to be a safety meeting this morning to see if the match is going ahead ( if that is where you are headed @HermioneWeasley )

It's heavy rain forecast for most of the day so even if the snow clears it's going to be nasty. I wouldn't unless there's a very good reason.

I live in the Pennines and heard last night that all routes across apart from M62 were closed last night so it will be busy.

Anyone know how it is today?
