First holiday to Spain and weather 😱

I know I'm being a moan but first time holiday with my four kids to loret de mar and the weather looks to be vile, we travel 2 may til 9th may , picked these dates because less busy with autistic children, but my god the weather ! I'm gutted, is it really that bad this time of year over there , any ideas on how to entertain children aboard in awful weather that looks to be prolonged

That's still a long way off and the long range weather forecast will likely change before then. I honestly would only be checking the weather the week before you go.

I've just looked on the BBC forecast which only goes up to 2nd May and it shows 2nd May being 20c and full sun!

Too far away. We are away next Thursday and the long range forecast on the bbc for where we see headed has changed every day!

Wait until a few days before and hopefully it will be fine.

Here hoping, I checked a 14 day weather forecast and from 3rd it's thunder and rain 😔 ☔

Plenty of time for it to change, yet. We were in the Costa Dorada last week and despite the forecast predicting highs of 18, we got mid 20s and glorious sunshine all week. Kids didn’t leave the pool and we’ve all come home with a lovely tan.

The weather the last few weeks I've noticed was brilliant but just my luck it'll be rain, glad yous had a brilliant holiday and great weather, hoping we get the same 😌

I've found that often when the weather forecast abroad shows a day as being rain, it will literally be a few drops or a single shower and barely noticeable We've just come back from Spain and the weather didn't reflect the forecast at all.

If it rains abroad you can still use the pool etc, you're wet anyway!

If it does rain and storm it's usually short lived - but pretty spectacular!

Other than if it's lightning it'll be warm enough to still swim etc and go to beach. Not what you planned but it'll be fine to do.

If you do have an awful weather day Gnomoparc is fab. It's just outside Lloret towards blanes and is easily accessible via public transport.

This is another thing I've realized and first time holidayer big mistake...I've booked for 2nd May until 9th may and everything is closed until end of May 😭

Never believe these predictions they are rarely correct. Usually the regional Catalan forecast Meteo.cat is reliable as they use local weather stations, but my experience of accuracy is by 2 days! May is often a good time to visit, as any rain is short lived. Although that is not good for the region which is suffering drought.

I doubt everything will be closed.

I went to Spain same time years ago and I might as well have been in Scotland! It can happen!

Don't worry it's way too early for weather to be accurate. Anything over 5 days away is only 50% accurate I think I read. Also because we haven't had warm weather here yet, lower temps will feel a lot warmer to you as you haven't acclimatised from winter yet.

@EatCrow Got to make the most of a holiday! 😂 I remember when I went to Mexico as a kid and it rained most afternoons for a couple of hours and we didn't even get out of the pool. In France a few years ago it rained a couple of times and my kids were more than happy to keep swimming too.

Son was in Porto last week, only needed a sweater in the evening at the harbour.

Is that Portugal? Long way from loret de mar if it is, so the the weather looks better by time we go so here's hoping, it's raining all week literally until we arrive 😂 so hopefully forecast is right by time we get there, still early I know but have faith

Raining all week before you arrive is a good thing- on average there aren’t that many days of rain in the month so stands to reason your week will be better!

So we have been on a cruise to Italy and Croatia. The forecast before we left was so dodgy I packed cooler weather gear but it has been glorious. It’s too hot to sit on our balcony right now in Dubrovnik😎
