Why have we had nothing but rain since JULY - and will we ever see a dry spell?

Just as it says - where I am (Yorkshire) it seems we've scarcely had a couple of days without rain since the heatwave in early June.

Why? When will it stop? It's driving me mad.

It’s not going to stop now it’s November.

You didn’t get the Indian summer in Sept I guess?

Can afford to book a week of winter sun?

CesareBorgia · 06/11/2023 18:42

No, no Indian summer and I've no holiday left to take until next year.

Not asking for heat or sunshine, just an end to the rain 😄

" Why? " Welcome to Britain!
" When will it end? " Never!

It just seems worse this year than ever before and I wondered if there was a reason. Last year we had quite a long winter dry spell - cold, but dry.

Weather is variable and the UK is placed such that wet isn't unusual

The oceans are hot so there is a greater chance of very wet spells

Climate change predictions are for warmer but wetter uk winters so get used to it

Yes, it has been an exceptionally wet year. I'm in South Yorkshire and we have had the wettest July for 40 years according to Paul Hudson, the odd warm dry day in August, then a gloriously hot week at the beginning of September it feels like it has not stopped training for ages now though.

I think it's climate change.
Its awful isn't it
