Weather gap for North Sea crossing

Dd has just taken part in the Tall Ships Race, ending in Norway, but they are now waiting in a port on the far south of Norway for a weather gap to cross back to Scotland. Storm Hans is currently causing massive issues in Scandinavia and there have been gale warnings in the North Sea for the last few days. Just wondering if there are some weather experts on here? Do you think there will be enough of a lull on Thursday/Friday for a crossing? Obviously the captain will decide, but just speculating!

I get a warning on your link I’m afraid. However, it does look like they will creep round the coast a little taking an inner passage tomorrow and set off on Friday morning.

You can look up FNMOC and WXMAP though.
