Spring Weather watch

Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ...

It looks like we've a fairly unsettled couple of weeks coming up overall, with plenty of showers and rain. I'm afraid wintry showers are still likely over northern hills for a time yet.

Water storage will be grateful for the rain and at least there's a chance of spectacular cumulus cloudscapes on showery days (as opposed to these grey gloomy days which frankly can sod off)

I caved and used the hose on my blueberry shrub, the leaves are shrivelled and the fruit has turned to raisins. A watering can wasn't enough.

Putting the hose on did the trick, we now have a gutter-waterfall and it's too rainy to go out and turn the hose off!

Ain't that always the way 🤣🤣

I watched this the other night. I'd recorded it on Sky months ago. It's really well worth sitting down and watching it. The scientists and government learnt so much from this extraordinary time.

I remember the 1976 heatwave vividly. I was 17 at the time and had a ball.

I went to Newquay a friend had landed a job in a hotel. It was fun. But back in Wales we didn't have the same issues as other parts of the country. No neighbours spying on each other and reporting breaking of the rules. No standpipes. No subsidence of houses. The crops were ruined etc

Same age as me. I loved it.

Some storm warnings for Northern Ireland and the NW of Scotland, but in general, a settled hot day today. Back to the potential issue of low cloud and haar over eastern coastal counties.

The possibility of a few showers starting to crop up by the weekend, but really nothing useful showing at the moment. The outlook is for hot and settled.

I think it's time to abandon this thread a little early and switch to a Summer weather watch thread.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weather/4826595-early-summer-weather-watch new thread. Everyone this way please!

Named it early summer, so that in August we can switch to a new thread and mostly get around MNs policy of keeping threads more than a month old out of trending if anything kicks off.
