Spring Weather watch

Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ...

It looks like we've a fairly unsettled couple of weeks coming up overall, with plenty of showers and rain. I'm afraid wintry showers are still likely over northern hills for a time yet.

Water storage will be grateful for the rain and at least there's a chance of spectacular cumulus cloudscapes on showery days (as opposed to these grey gloomy days which frankly can sod off)

We've had fires on Cwm mountain. Fire brigade eventually put out first but it's on fire again. They suspect not accidental but young kids

RampantIvy · 03/06/2023 23:35

They should ban the sale of disposable barbecues.

They should ban the sale of disposable barbecues.

Awful things.
I thought they had banned them, but unfortunately it was only "temporary" last summer due to the heatwave.
Morrisons has bloody hundreds of the things stacked in their foyer...maybe I should report them to the Fire Officer (they really shouldn't have them that close to the main entrance/exit) ... hmm, job for tomorrow! Smile

justasking111 · 04/06/2023 18:40

They're in the entrance at Lidl 🙄

They should ban the sale of disposable barbecues.

I agree! And apart from the very obvious fire risks, they are also often responsible for food poisoning too.

I agree too. A wildfire and a wildlife risk.

Back to the low cloud in the east and central areas, burning back eastwards to a certain extent through the day.

Next weekend does look to be warmer. But Sunday carries a risk of some strong thunderstorms, with accompanying risks of heavy rain and hail for some. Several days away yet, but one to keep an eye on.

Checking in to see the latest updates from @OhYouBadBadKitten - I've come to find you much more informative than the weather presenters!

Plit · 05/06/2023 13:52

My weatwr app predicts rain next weekend thank goodness

justasking111 · 05/06/2023 13:58

Just Hung out the washing, lawn feels like concrete. Can't believe I heard lawn mowers going this weekend.

WhatCanWeDoNext · 05/06/2023 13:58

Thanks for the heads up about Sunday’s potential weather. May need to arrange a couple of Plan Bs just in case. 👍

My dh has been bumbling around in the paddock on a ride on mower all weekend 😐

Ventusky isn't giving a whisper of rain until 13th June.

Nor is the BBC.

It's quite windy here the fishermen are complaining

Plit · 05/06/2023 14:38

My weather app. Always quite accurate for me!

Can I ask how things are looking in Devon on Saturday? BBC is quite optimistic, Met Office has more cloud around, Accuweather has chance of a storm 🤷🏻‍♀️ keeping everything crossed for a last bit of sunshine and then next week it can rain, the gardens really need it!

Pixiedust1234 · 05/06/2023 17:32

@Plit what's that one called please? I need a good one.

@InMySpareTime it's never dry in Manchester 😯

RampantIvy · 05/06/2023 18:03

@Plit which weather app do you use? I have the Met Office one as advised by @OhYouBadBadKitten, and often compare it to the BBC one. We usually end up somewhere in between.

We have 14 degrees forecast for tomorrow Sad

I actually don't know what it's called 😊 it's the widget on my Samsung phone!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 05/06/2023 21:11

Pickupper. It looks pretty warm, but whether it is cloudy or not is hard to know at the moment. There certainly is a risk of clouds and perhaps a small risk of storms.

Thanks so much, OYBBK 😊

stillherenow · 06/06/2023 06:29

DofE weekend this weekend. My nerves won’t take storms !

OhYouBadBadKitten · 06/06/2023 07:47

.Youre welcome.

Still looking warmer, more humid and with potential thunderstorms over the weekend. The risk of storms lies primarily in the south. As we go into next week, remaining warm, with an improving picture temperature wise for those in the ast who have been under pesky cloud. A continuing risk of thunderstorms.

Cooler start here today (East Lancs) but hoping it will at least dry the last-minute festival washing!!!! Forecasting some rain over East Mids on Sunday which I hope doesn't materialise as the site at the moment is a dust bowl so any wet will just become instant sludge 😢

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2023 12:30

Thick grey cloud cover for the second day in a row in my part of Hertfordshire. It was flipping freezing in my sandals at 8.30 this morning and a decent waft of drizzle to make my hair ping out of shape.
Forecast for next week looks to be wet so I suppose I should enjoy the dry, grey conditions whilst they last!
