Spring Weather watch

Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ...

It looks like we've a fairly unsettled couple of weeks coming up overall, with plenty of showers and rain. I'm afraid wintry showers are still likely over northern hills for a time yet.

Water storage will be grateful for the rain and at least there's a chance of spectacular cumulus cloudscapes on showery days (as opposed to these grey gloomy days which frankly can sod off)

Rain last night here in South Yorkshire as well.

@Cookerhood I am north of Oxford, rain dawn time. Cold now chill wind dull & cloud which will remain until tea time.
Wearing same clothes since September. Grrr

It’s so cold without the sun. And the forecasters are seeming to struggle and are getting it very wrong. I’m sure we were supposed to see a bit more sun than we have this week (been in the NE). That wind is very cold. I had to borrow my son’s puffer yesterday as didn’t pack any coats just jumpers.

I mean this looks amazing but I don’t believe it. The cloud seems to take ages to clear every day and the wind is so cold. This is for Bucks.

Well we've got the high, but unfortunately North winds swinging Easterly. It's annoying.

This was our forecast the last week, not true at all though.

No they keep getting it wrong every day. Makes it very difficult to plan days out and what to wear when the forecasters say sun and 20 and the reality is 15-16 with cloud and a cold wind.

We’ve had the opposite to SunnyEgg. Started off beautiful but has now turned grey and dreary. 16 degrees. We do have baby blackbirds though 🐦‍⬛

Ha yes I was just thinking about the longest day. I find it annoying when the evenings are lovely and light but it’s not warm enough to sit out.

It has brightened up here so also in the garden!

We've had dull mornings and warmer, sunny afternoons all week (East Lancs) with similar forecast for the next 10 days.........same for Donington Park which I'm desperate to be true for next week's festival 🤞🎶🤞

No sun today in Edinburgh, but it's been dry and sunnyish for almost 2 weeks now.
I remember previous June 1st when it was 6c and walking the dog in my winter coat, so today's high of 13c is fine by me 😂

My sunflowers are struggling. They're getting more sun now but it's so dry and chilly when the sun is in.

On the whole, if we are getting no rain for weeks, I'd prefer it to be cooler, for the sake of all the plants in my garden. They suffered enough last year.

After moaning about the mud, our ground is now like concrete and I'm worried about the horses competing or training on it. No rain in sight.

I just looked up the weather as wondering where the sun and warmth is and next weekend it apparently gets a fair bit warmer

Models do seem to be showing a very warm/ hot spell coming up by around the 8th June.
We seem to be in a very boom/bust situation with the rain. This high pressure is stubbornly going nowhere and reservoir levels are dropping. Thankfully ground water supplies seem to be holding up better. But I think we are going to be starting to move into a higher risk of wildfires soon.
