Optimistically we turn our eyes towards Spring weather in the hope that we are in the last throes of winter. But March is a capricious month. ...

It looks like we've a fairly unsettled couple of weeks coming up overall, with plenty of showers and rain. I'm afraid wintry showers are still likely over northern hills for a time yet.

Water storage will be grateful for the rain and at least there's a chance of spectacular cumulus cloudscapes on showery days (as opposed to these grey gloomy days which frankly can sod off)

I sympathise with those dealing with mud, but after all the dryness I have been thankful for the rain. We've already had our boating holiday moved for this summer as there hasn't been enough rain to feed the canals and I do think we need to get more water in the lakes and reservoirs.

Having said that, the spring equinox was a wet grey affair and I'm sure my bulbs are behind.

Hello! I was just wondering if you knowledgable people have a view about the Easter weekend? Desperate for a bit of warmth and sunshine.

According to both my weather apps it is rainy for the next 2 weeks (SW)

IamaBluebird · 21/03/2023 09:44

I saw house martins swooping through the sky yesterday. So nice to see them again .

Plit · 21/03/2023 11:47

We have skylarks in the field next to our house - never had them this close before.

justasking111 · 21/03/2023 18:09

Gales sweeping in Wales tonight and tomorrow, some rain 🌧️. Scotland is in for a hammering wind wise I think. Secure bins for sure tonight

Plit · 21/03/2023 19:47

Very windy here in SW.

TheFormidableMrsC · 21/03/2023 20:00

I saw my first ant of the year today and several bumble bees. Always a good sign!

JuneOsborne · 21/03/2023 20:04

Desperate to be out of the winter. Driving home today I noticed lots of hedges going green, magnolia trees ready to burst, blossom, and grass growing. Heaven.

TiredandLate · 21/03/2023 20:08

This winter has felt endless I'm really sick of the constant cold. I think it was last Friday the sun came out for a few hours and warmed my car up - it was bliss getting into it after work, which I realise is quite tragic 😅

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/03/2023 21:14

It does look very blowy in Scotland tomorrow Justasking

They'll be suing you for overcrowding!!

I swear it was warmer out than in today! At about 5 it had a lovely summers day feel to the air/light😊

GloriaSmud · 22/03/2023 14:06

TheFormidableMrsC I've noticed lots of bumblebees about as well.

Frogs are still busy in the pond - there must be 10-12 clumps at the moment! Despite the start of British Summer Time at the weekend, it's looking like temperatures are going to drop off for a time next week with the chance of frosts at night, so nature's going to be in for a bit of a shock.

Your frogs have been very busy. I need to go and check the pond and bulb situation.

Blowing a gale and pissing down with rain here but I have temporarily turned the heating off. I don’t expect that to last but for the moment it’s 16/17 without.

EmmaEmerald · 23/03/2023 10:28

Any chance of mild weather in London, Kitten? It looks pretty rubbish next week on the forecasts, but they are often wrong so I thought it better to ask you, Wise Kitten!

redrumclub · 23/03/2023 10:59

I'm in London for the weekend next weekend so I'd love for it to be a bit brighter and milder too! If not I'll settle for a lovely Easter weekend in the NW🤞🏻

OhYouBadBadKitten · 23/03/2023 12:34

It does seem to be looking better in early April. Gradually less unsettled, warmer and drier in the south. Further north, it's going to keep taking its time.

Thanks Kitten
Will plan more indoor stuff for next week then!

Hedjwitch · 23/03/2023 16:41

Heating on here in Scotland. I think I could kill for some sunshine.

KnickerlessParsons · 23/03/2023 17:06

There's a weather expert on MN called Ohyoubadbadkitten who might know. I don't know how to tag her(him/they) though.

There's a pretty big clue at the top of the page 😅

Pixiedust1234 · 23/03/2023 17:47

Despite the start of British Summer Time at the weekend,

Well...thats totally missed me so I'm very grateful you posted that, even if it was hidden under a pile of frogspawn 😂

Nothing here except rain, rain, rain and a large bumbly fly. I thought it was a bumble bee but no yellow, no fluff, no roundness and certainly no cuteness 😥

redrumclub · 23/03/2023 17:55

Thanks @OhYouBadBadKitten that's at least a bit positive!
