Amber snow warning for parts of North Wales 9/10th March

I'm a little surprised that this wasn't issued earlier. There must have been some uncertainty around how much snow would fall. Note that freezing rain is also in the forecast.

We are in this area. Snow is coming thick and fast. All schools, council buildings and leisure centres are closed in my county. I’m worrying about my dh going to work in it!

Ive just noticed Shropshire is also in the warning. Sorry Shropshire!

As I said in the other thread, please don't see the boundary of the warning area as a hard boundary where you'll be fine just on the other side of it. See it as a fuzzy border and note that you are in a yellow area which means that disruptive snow is possible.

Roads are terrible here in Shropshire.
Drive Ds to school along winding country lanes. Saw a snow plough in the distance ... which kept on coming. Brakes were useless & I crashed into the hedge. We avoided each other literally by a couple of inches. His brakes had locked too. Now the roads are slightly icy & even more skiddy. Even walking up the hill in my snow boots it's slippy.

I'm glad you are ok Cantonet that must have been a very scary moment.

Airport trip was uneventful, snow falling steadily but really quite slushy now in Cheshire.

Thick snow on the ground this morning. Brilliant sunshine unseasonably hot. It's vanished at low levels but you can see it lying in the hills
