Well I say discussion, it's more of a pointless argument with my exH.

I say we have unusually had no named storms so far this winter. Or at least none that are on the Met Office/Met Éireann alphabetical list. I certainly don't recall storms Antoni and Betty 🤔

He maintains we have.

Who is right? Please let it be me

@OhYouBadBadKitten will know!

You are correct OP.

Check out the Met Office. Their names for the 2022/2023 season start at Antoni and none have been used yet.

Last named storm we had was in Feb of last year apparently (Franklin)

And yes, a quick Google shows there's been no Storm Antoni's. If there had been any then the Met Office would have been the ones to name them and record them as its their job.

It was a news item the other day.

WestwardHo1 · 08/02/2023 13:58

Ha! I knew it.

I knew I was right, however needed external validation. I was googling "named storms 2022/23" and just got lists of the names. Didn't think to actually Google the names 🤦‍♀️

That'll show the prick him.

However, I wonder if we'll get to the end of the winter with no named storm at all? That'll seem odd, given that before Christmas at least, we did have a lot of stormy weather. I'm in West Cornwall though - it's very windy very often.

Still no UK named storms! Otto was named first by the Danish met office, so although it's our first named storm this season, I'm not sure it counts.
