We moved In heavy snow from Durham to Wiltshire a few years ago but I can't imagine moving in gale force winds!

Have a chat with them this morning and see what they say, good luck with your move though be it today or on Monday 🤞

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2022 06:53

Wakeywakey, me too. I could probably wave to you from here. Unless it's the same hill!

CatBook · 18/02/2022 06:54

Morning everyone, another sign in from north Cornwall. Slept right through and only got woken up by some idiots who have come down to screech at the waves at high tide. It's windy but not as bad as I feared though we have the next few hours to get through. At least I am up in time to make coffee before the power goes out!

oakleaffy · 18/02/2022 06:54

@Shannith

Surrey- still and calm here. I've shelved plans to ride my horse tomorrow morning as I'm choosing life, but we are supposed to be hacking tomorrow afternoon. Can't see that happening. Might be a bit too exciting.
I rode a TB chestnut mare decades ago in the last big gale..she was very skittish even in indoor arena which clattered and banged...

I was blown over cycling home, and found a stunned lorry driver where a branch had fallen on the passenger side of his cab, crushing it.
I asked if he was OK?
He said ''Yes''..... but there were no mobile phones in those days.
Now realise he was in emotional shock, and wasn't ''OK'' at all...

Stay safe!

MedusasBadHairDay · 18/02/2022 06:55

We're just outside the edge of the new red area, but all my family are firmly inside it. Hoping my dad and brother don't decide to be all macho about it and take silly risks.

Glad I can work from home, though suspect my garden office is going to be quite noisy today

Jestal · 18/02/2022 06:56

For people that have outdoor cats - are you keeping them in for the next 2 days?

bushtailadventures · 18/02/2022 06:58

Thankfully school (in Oxfordshire) have decided to close, takes the decision away from me. Means I don't have to walk to work in the worst of it either.

Fingers crossed we all stay pretty much unscathed

It I was you, I'd keep them in today for sure!
hoochyhag · 18/02/2022 07:00

Keep safe my lovelies.

noideabutstilltrying · 18/02/2022 07:01

I'm out in it today. I work as a loss adjuster and off to see the first claims from Dudley in my area.

Luckily just a couple today and WFH on Saturday and Sunday to sort smaller claims.

OrangeSamphire · 18/02/2022 07:02

Just seen the red for the south east. That’s not good news.

Down here in Cornwall we don’t have the massive volume of trees, buildings or people. Our main concern is probably storm surge flooding from the spring tides. But up there? Well, I lived in Surrey in 1987 and it was devastating. The tree loss was something I will never forget.

Stay safe.

LakieLady · 18/02/2022 07:03

I've got my car booked in to the garage today. I've just been racking my brain trying to think if there are any big trees between here and there!

AramintaLee · 18/02/2022 07:03

I couldn't sleep due to storm anxiety as I knew I had to go to the office as we have a customer visit today and was told yesterday evening that it's still going ahead, so I ended up getting up and into the office by 5.30am. Very gentle winds and no rain, so I'm glad I got up and out.

Sods law the customer visit will be cancelled.

LakieLady · 18/02/2022 07:04

And in the last 30 mins or so the wind has noticeably strengthened!

I've just let our 2 out.(kept them in last night) They will only go to the toilet outside, wont use a ltter tray). We're S yorks though and its not due to hit here till later. One is back in already and once the other comes back in (which wont be long because its raining!) Im going to lock the cat flap so i know they are in before I go to work.
Pennox · 18/02/2022 07:06

New red zone here, Surrey, surrounded by trees. Nervous. Have got the kids down from the top floor to sleep downstairs just in case.

It’s pretty windy here now already.

WinterIcelandicPony22 · 18/02/2022 07:07

I am definitely keeping our cats inside. (2 usually outdoor ones plus a neighbour's elderly boy who arrived last week with his little suitcase packed as she is in hospital and hopefully out this weekend).

FuzzyPuffling · 18/02/2022 07:07

One cat popped out for a wee early doors. She came in after about a minute. Cat flap is now blocked up and litter tray is out, even though they both hate it.
Tonsiltrouble · 18/02/2022 07:07

South Hampshire - not a lot happening presently. Lots of big trees here but mostly not too close to the house. Will be hunkering down inside.

Hb12 · 18/02/2022 07:08

Both primary and secondary school here shut (Isle of Wight) now due to new red earning.

Wind picked up a little, not massively

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 18/02/2022 07:09

@Youngatheart00

London and South East now on Red warning as well
Oh no. We have solar panels too - I'm terrified they'll rip off the roof. Seems to be blowing towards the house on that side 😔

I really hope there are no casualties but I can't help remembering the biggie in '86 or whenever, when all the forecasters were saying 'imagine how much worse it would have been if it had come in the day' 😬

missfliss · 18/02/2022 07:10

Hi @NinJellyWarrior - also West Sussex ( coastal) - primary schools all announced closures now - local massive secondary academy not announced anything yet - seems wrong to not close too !

poorbuthappy · 18/02/2022 07:10

It's gone really calm again here!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/02/2022 07:10

yr.no weather gives south east, where i am specifically strong gale from south west at 12.00

Violetmo0n · 18/02/2022 07:10

Newcastle.
Normal rainy day for us.
Had a notification from nursery they may close early depending how the wind picks up later.

Hope everyone down south are doing ok.
