I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

It's picked up here in the North east again. Wind gusts of 83 here at the mo. It had been relatively quiet then all of a sudden its gone dark and my windows slammed shut.

MedusasBadHairDay · 18/02/2022 15:57

It seems to be doing that here too. It goes relatively quiet for 20 minutes or so and then the strong gusts start again. There's a bit of a lull right now.

Same here in Bucks, you could believe it was over and then suddenly it's battering the buildings again. Seems to be happening less frequently though.

PizzaCrust · 18/02/2022 15:57

Blue skies and a bit of wind in NI now, we definitely missed a lot of the chaos and got lucky.

Changes17 · 18/02/2022 15:58

MinglingFlamingo was just reading about hail in Cornwall when it started here, in Bristol.

LIZS · 18/02/2022 15:59

Bit calmer in Se. Blue skies but still occasional gusts

baroqueandblue · 18/02/2022 16:00

Neighbours downstairs letting their young kids play out. A section of something that has blown off clearly visible at one end of the path, and it is blowing an absolute gale Confused

New thread rather urgently needed, so here it is.

Checking in for this one. You deserve an award OYBBK'!

NotQuiteNormalMe · 18/02/2022 16:04

Dorset , wind picked up and now big hail storm and temp massively dropped.

Ambulance story was lovely. The majority of humans are decent

The garden's taken a pummeling, but the wind seems to be dying down here now. (Dover.)

newnameforthehousehunt · 18/02/2022 16:09

I spoke too soon when I said Norfolk was calming down, it’s going mental out there again now Shock

TheresSomebodyAtTheDoorNeil · 18/02/2022 16:11

Im in south Cumbria and was sceptical about how bad the storm was until about 2pm when the roof off the Rugby ground blew off. Hmm

This has to be 'Quote of the Day'.

What award did you mean then? OYBBK does other stuff?
SnotMikeUpPuffedHe · 18/02/2022 16:41

I think that was probably meant as a check-in on the new thread.

Although I'm sure OYBBK deserves awards in many walks of her life.

Someone on my FB has been walking in woods in Norfolk... Someone else has told her she's nuts... The lady and her husband are both deaf too so they can't hear any danger.. Complete madness!!!
LakieLady · 18/02/2022 16:50

No damage here, thankfully, and I really shouldn't moan about something so trivial, but the rain has left my windows absolutely filthy!

And the window cleaner only came a few days ago, so they'll have to stay that way for a while.

newnameforthehousehunt · 18/02/2022 17:08

@Elderflower14 that is nuts. I live close to woods and just went out for a v.quick bit of fresh air and absolutely would not feel safe near a mass of tall trees right now😱

JulesRimetStillGleaming · 18/02/2022 18:12

The power has been off since about midday. Some properties are back on but they're now estimating midnight to get everyone back on. In bed as it's the only place to get warm.

WreckTangled · 18/02/2022 18:27

We're being told our powder might not be on until tomorrow evening. We're all electric too.

SuperSocks · 18/02/2022 20:21

@LakieLady Same here re the windows! I guess it was that the wind basically dried the rain as it hit the glass? It's never normally like that after a storm.

HesterShaw1 · 18/02/2022 20:39

Our power is back - yay!

I think we were about the first to lose it. 2am this morning

SuperSocks · 18/02/2022 20:42

@HesterShaw1 Where are you? Where I am in Cornwall we haven't lost it at all!

HesterShaw1 · 18/02/2022 20:43

I'm in Penwith but not right at the very end.
