I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

Thank you x

Good luck everyone. Amber zone here but hankering down for tomorrow

Fordian · 17/02/2022 23:05

Thanks. Will be interesting to see if this one is a squib or catastrophic. Hoping 'a bit exciting but with no deaths', myself.

BrieAndChilli · 17/02/2022 23:07

It’s very calm here - seems at odds with the red warning. We shall see what morning brings!

Cheekypeach · 17/02/2022 23:11

I’m on the Devon south coast, and things seem quite calm at the moment. Certainly nothing I would notice if I didn’t know there was a weather warning. What’s it like where you all are?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/02/2022 23:11

eep! not yet! Here this one isnt filled yet --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice

Surrey- still and calm here. I've shelved plans to ride my horse tomorrow morning as I'm choosing life, but we are supposed to be hacking tomorrow afternoon. Can't see that happening. Might be a bit too exciting.

TheDogsMother · 17/02/2022 23:20

Rural West Sussex here and we get power cuts regularly so I'm dreading tomorrow with the pile of work I need to do. We're charging all devices but without Wi-Fi they aren't going to be much use. Mobile signals fairly non existent too. Hold onto your hats everyone.

Haybo26 · 17/02/2022 23:21

North Wales, all schools shut, main bridges closed and no trains running tomorrow. Currently raining but no wind.....yet.

Few hours to go yet it's not due to ramp up until very early morning. Calm before the storm

We are in red zone from 5 or 7 but I've just been out to try and make stuff safer and it's really calm, so weird.
Dd,s primary school and the one I work in are both still open despite nearly all.other schools closed which seems silly and I'm slightly worried.

Youngatheart00 · 17/02/2022 23:44

Definitely feels like ‘the calm before the storm’ in Worcestershire currently. Some very light drizzle, no wind at all.

West Wales here. Rain has started but has been calm up until now. Feels odd knowing what is to come. Hoping it’s not as bad as forecast.

All plans have been cancelled; we closed the offices and WFH. Have supplies and have downloaded some movies in case of electricity outage.

Ah just saw it’s due to hit the SW around 7am.

Just seen on twitter this is now being classed as a Cat 2 Cyclone with gusts of up to 100mph

Confused

Shock
Melroses · 18/02/2022 00:23

Is that because it is going anti-clockwise as opposed to an anti-cyclone which goes clockwise ? 😵

Melroses · 18/02/2022 00:24

(that should have been an emoji with spiral eyes. Hmm )

zeromango · 18/02/2022 00:29

Derbyshire here! Still and silent currently. Bins remain upright. Grin Will be up all night with newborn DS and bought some hot cross buns and hot chocolate for tomorrow as certainly not venturing out! Stay safe all.

Ocsetldil · 18/02/2022 00:32

A cyclone??

colouringindoors · 18/02/2022 00:44

Let's be careful out there...

glastogal · 18/02/2022 00:46

Most of the storm systems that pass through the uk are cyclones, the label itself isn't uncommon, so don't be alarmed by the use of that word especially.

This does look like a grim storm though, I live just outside the red warning zone and have been securing what I can. All the bins and garden furniture is in the garage. 🤞 the solar panels stay put!
