just weighed the trampoline down some more just in case lol. That shouldnt go anywhere. Times like this I wish I didnt have so much storm anxiety! Im working 2-8pm today in a supermarket, im expecting it to be quiet customer wise due to people staying in but who knows. Im glad the worst of it in wiltshire is this morning, poor doggy would wee outside this morning. Kids all off school so at least thats something

Lubeyboobyalt · 18/02/2022 07:13

OYBBK its on our shed roof, we are extremely high up and exposed, theres literally nothing between us and the wind. I regret this house choice every time there's a storm

Pascha · 18/02/2022 07:14

@Jestal

For people that have outdoor cats - are you keeping them in for the next 2 days?
Mine are complaining already but Phoebe is so tiny she'd be blown away. Ds1 says she'll turn into a buzzard (cat of prey?) and start hunting mice from the air Grin.
TheAbbotOfUnreason · 18/02/2022 07:14

Our W Sussex secondary (big rural catchment) woke me up with a 6.30am text saying school now closed to all pupils.

Seagulls also being unreasonably loud outside, but that’s not unusual.

WreckTangled · 18/02/2022 07:14

@missfliss

Hi *@NinJellyWarrior* - also West Sussex ( coastal) - primary schools all announced closures now - local massive secondary academy not announced anything yet - seems wrong to not close too !
Still waiting to hear about our primary school. I know loads that have closed but we still haven't heard anything. I'm 99% sure it'll be closed and won't be sending ds regardless but it's annoying we haven't heard yet!
ifonly4 · 18/02/2022 07:15

Jestal, my two wanted to go out a few mins ago - as it was actually calm at the time, so I've let them. I do have litter trays at the ready though. One back already.

OffTheShelfElf · 18/02/2022 07:15

Starting to get breezy here (Oxfordshire). Haven't heard anything from the kids' school so I assume it's staying open. I'm not looking forward to driving to work, and I'm REALLY not looking forward to working in a thin-skinned shabby building that's little more than a 2-storey portacabin. But my biggest worry is parents driving to ours in the peak of it to look after the kids.

FourChimneys · 18/02/2022 07:16

It is bin day here. We are not putting ours out but I have just heard one blow over. No idea why the collection hasn't been postponed, the bins could make the roads even more dangerous. Very close to the edge of the red zone here.

HesterShaw1 · 18/02/2022 07:16

Morning everyone. Just had 71mph at Land's End with the average at 59mph the last 30 minutes. It's windy but not anything we haven't had before yet.

People are still driving down the lane to work.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/02/2022 07:17

i didnt put the bin out last night, but decided to put it out after all

Shaambaalaa · 18/02/2022 07:17

Devon, North Coast, face directly onto the sea. Bit windy, no rain. Wondering if this is actually going to happen now.

ifonly4 · 18/02/2022 07:17

FourChimneys our local council confirmed on their website yesterday, bin collections had been suspended.

pinkcattydude · 18/02/2022 07:17

What a morning! woke up to being in red zone with the headache everyone seems to have. Friday is test day and managed to avoid it up til now, but tested positive I’m going back to bed til it’s all over. Stay safe people

TokyoSushi · 18/02/2022 07:17

Nothing doing here in Cheshire at the moment.

DePfeffoff · 18/02/2022 07:17

newnameforthehousehunt · 18/02/2022 07:17

Wind is picking up here in Norfolk but still generally calm…. Trying to get dcat outside for a wee before the worst hits from about 12 according to the Met Office

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/02/2022 07:17

our council said if you can leave it then do, but otherwise they will collect the bins.

OnlyYellowRoses · 18/02/2022 07:19

South Dorset here. All schools are shut, buses suspended and all been told to work from home. Just a bit windy, nothing bad or unusual yet Confused

afengshui · 18/02/2022 07:19

Most schools closed in Amber area with few still open. Wondering what thought process is for the ones still open.

littlese · 18/02/2022 07:20

We are in London and meant to drive down to the Cotswolds for a wedding this afternoon. Eurgh not sure if we should or not Sad

itsgettingweird · 18/02/2022 07:20

Hampshire here.

Woken up to email from HT saying schools have been shut by council.

Then realised we are now is red warning.

So I'll be WFH (always paperwork to do even if you can't get into a class!)

Is this comparable to the storm of 1987?

jowly · 18/02/2022 07:21

Very windy in the midlands. As windy as I've ever known it really and a bit unnerving.

It appears the predicted areas are a bit askew atm?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 18/02/2022 07:22

they have just played a recording of Michael Fish on radio 2, he is infamous,, the meteorological office never want to make those types of comments again

Macho heads having a testicle swinging competition. Happens when it snows too...

Quieter than usual on the road outside my house . Looks like people are reverting to WFH.

Hasn't the south east gone into a red area? Is London classed as south eat
