I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

Cornwall Live says 27,000 homes in Cornwall have lost power.

MrsMigginsCat · 18/02/2022 20:54

Friends less than 1/2 mile in the same town have been off since this morning and not looking like it'll go back on until tomorrow. We've be ok all day. We're in North Cornwall.

Garfieldismyspiritanimal · 18/02/2022 21:01

Ours has been on and off all day. Off 12ish till 6pm. On 6-9 Just gone off again.
Our postcode doesn’t say on the website that there is a power cut, but nearby postcodes have been told to expect power back by 6pm tomorrow. Also Cornwall.

pawpaws2022 · 18/02/2022 21:18

NW. hail stones are crazy. I have subtitles on the TV as I can't hear it over the cracking noise against the windows!

Timetobuckup · 18/02/2022 21:25

We have had no power since lunchtime but all OK now

Timetobuckup · 18/02/2022 21:26

Sorry west sussex

TheDogsMother · 18/02/2022 22:57

Still no power. Thinking dark thoughts about freezing showers and no tea in the morning

SuperSocks · 19/02/2022 00:23

Gosh! It's making me feel very lucky! The lights flickered just now but that's it. It's very calm here tonight. Don't know if it'll kick off again though so keeping all the bowls of water for now!

Alrightqueenie · 19/02/2022 08:22

How is everyone? A couple of large mature trees came down at the end of the road but luckily missed cars and houses. It is calmer and still gusty but not as mad as yesterday. Dcat was frightened out of her wits and slept all day on the sofa.

Oblomov22 · 19/02/2022 09:47

27,000 people in Cornwall without power is not good. I read that there had been 4 deaths.

WreckTangled · 19/02/2022 09:55

Approaching 24 hours with no power or phone signal. We're all electric so have nothing to keep us warm and have probably lost the contents of our freezer now.

Garfieldismyspiritanimal · 19/02/2022 10:12

Sorry to hear that wrecked. We are the same though BT came by this morning and fixed our phone line! Massive and very appreciated surprise. We still have no internet or phone though because the power is still off Grin

Phone battery on its last legs now - should probably get off Mumsnet and preserve it!

Ocsetldil · 19/02/2022 10:20

We lost power at 6pm last night and it only came in this morning. Fortunately I’d prepared an early supper so the electricity went off just as we sat down to eat so at least we had warm food. It was absolutely freezing though.

WreckTangled · 19/02/2022 10:27

We don't have any mobile signal at all when the power is out, have to drive five miles to get any. I'm currently sitting in a car park waiting for the electricity company to answer the phone. It's been almost an hour but I can't do anything at home so might as well keep holding. It was 2° last night so we were all frozen! I know they can't help it, I just want some communication so I can plan what I need to do Sad

BunsyGirl · 19/02/2022 10:46

No power here in North West Essex. Currently having my morning brew whilst DS has his Saturday morning swimming lesson!

Alexandra2001 · 19/02/2022 10:50

@WreckTangled But they can help it.

Most power outages are caused by branches falling on power lines.

So why don't they do more preventative work?

Profit is the reason why.
