I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

The last hour has been the strongest consistent winds here-slightly dropped now with occasional strong gusts. The big trees opposite the house are still up thankfully (fingers crossed they stay there) but we have lost a few tiles from our 450 year old roof! (East herts)

Lopril · 18/02/2022 15:19

It seems to be getting worse in Cheshire.

BooseysMom · 18/02/2022 15:20

What do you think about the West Midlands area ? Seems to quiet down and then a big gust comes back again

Worcestershire and one moment it's weirdly calm, the next it's gusting blasts. Sunshine and racing clouds across the sky. Something close by went bang but can't see what it was!

Forecast It's looking like regular gales in north London till end of Monday. Irritating to live on a high floor right now!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/02/2022 15:24

West Midlands will very slowly generally ease off over the next few hours. But still gusting 40-60 for a while yet, depending on where you are.

Easing in N Hampshire thankfully. God knows how my fence survived that. Seems I was lucky compared to some.

Lopril · 18/02/2022 15:24

Thanks for that drinking.

Apparently next door's barometer is now rising , stupid question no doubt but is that better or worse? Confused

MinglingFlamingo · 18/02/2022 15:27

@Inmyownlittlecorner

In St Austell, Cornwall & just about to venture out with DC to get food after being in our hotel room all day but it’s started hailing. The wind hasn’t been too bad for the last hour though. My sister is meant to be travelling down from Cheltenham to join us at some point today too. It’s not been a great getaway!
It's hailing in my part of Cornwall too. The hail is the size of peas.

Just taken ddog out. Not that much damage. Ann old tin roof is a bit worse for wear and watering cans in unusual positions. Quite a bit of twigs on the road and the odd badly snapped branch

Fruitbatdancer · 18/02/2022 15:28

We have power but don’t know for how much longer! Every village around us doesn’t! (Kent)

Indoctro · 18/02/2022 15:28

Someone has been killed by a tree, a council worker clearing debris I think

Happened to a lady in Aberdeen out walking her dog

So sad

The trees are so dangerous

We seem to have got away with the worst I think, the patio furniture hasn't even moved ! Thanks
Lockheart · 18/02/2022 15:34

NW London does seem to be easing. Still very gusty but doesn't feel quite as strong / frequent as late morning.

oakleaffy · 18/02/2022 15:34

Better.

You don't want a ''Falling'' barometer.

Pebbledashery · 18/02/2022 15:35

It's literally howling outside.

Oh that's really so so sad.

There were far fewer dog walkers about today, but we did risk it once the force of wind had abated a bit...But I was careful to stay away from trees.
The ground was littered with broken and fallen branches.

I'm probably bang in the centre of north and it is the same here, it was meant to ease off at 3. Always seems worse in a high rise though.
Sweetpea84 · 18/02/2022 15:38

Thought it was calming down in sw London seems to be picking up again!

Wilkolampshade · 18/02/2022 15:44

Yes I thought picking up again too... Maybe a last hurrah?

Rowgtfc72 · 18/02/2022 15:44

OK it's here now. Dh has just had to do a bodge it repair on a dodgy fence panel. I've lobbed a few things in the garage. Big, big gusts.
For those in Hull- I'm Cleethorpes. It's coming your way!

Lopril · 18/02/2022 15:46

It seems to be doing that here too. It goes relatively quiet for 20 minutes or so and then the strong gusts start again. There's a bit of a lull right now.

We are north London too and the lulls do seem to be lasting longer now.
drybird · 18/02/2022 15:47

My weather app is tell me a wind speed 52 😱 gusts are blowing through this little old house

yamadori · 18/02/2022 15:52

It has picked up again here now, but the wind direction has changed a little. It was coming from due west but it is a little north of that now, which will be less likely to take the rest of my neighbour's house roof off. We're right on the northern edge of the East Anglian red zone (never thought I'd use that sentence, lol) so heaven knows what it's like further south. We are still getting some very strong sudden gusts.

Indoctro · 18/02/2022 15:53

This made me cry ... local to me

Have a tissue when you read this ❤️

A message to all the amazing folks who pushed the emergency ambulance up the hill at the Tyrebagger from the little 10 month baby girl’s Mum, her thank you to the Paramedics too ❤️

I’m the mum that was in the ambulance with my 10 month old daughter that got stuck on the A96 and that took two hours to get into hospital.

Thank you to everyone who moved out the way, got out to tell people to move in advance of us moving along & to push us when we got stuck.

Also massive thank you to the paramedics for getting us there safely.

My daughter is now getting the treatment she needs thanks to everyone.

Thank you to the people that have worked to clear the A96 as it means that my husband is now finally past it and managing to get to us at the hospital
