I'm sorry for starting this when we still have 200 posts to go, but I really should sleep and I'm worried that the previous thread will fill up. Here it is --> www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weather/4481220-Storm-Eunice please fill it, before using this one.

Lots of trees down here and people without power, luckily we are ok at the moment.

I had to go outside as my back gate blew open, it’s a solid wooden gate so the wind catches it, my bins were behind it as I thought they would be sheltered but they took a battering, managed to shut the gate and put the bins back behind it, the wind caught me and I was laughing so much as I couldn’t walk. Sun is out though 😁

WinterIcelandicPony22 · 18/02/2022 14:32

Just had a window smash courtesy neighbour's fence panel flying into it! Have dealt with fence panel with neighbour who is most (and needlessly) apologetic. Plans made to get together for a drink in the near future.

WinterIcelandicPony22 · 18/02/2022 14:34

(It's a porch window and outside so not an immediate problem)

Francescaisstressed · 18/02/2022 14:34

Just wanted to update you from Cardiff.
Saldy, a house round the corner from us has had its roof ripped clean off. We've lost part of our febce. It's still quite windy so will continue to keep and eye and won't be venturing out at all, really not worth the risk. Our main concern was flooding but looks like that's changed from red to Amber.
Hope everyone is doing okay, I know how anxious some of you were so nice bath/gin/bath of gin tonight x

@TheAbbotOfUnreason
I so hope that's real! Grin

HoldOnToYourHat · 18/02/2022 14:34

Do you know the prognosis for the Peak District please @OhYouBadBadKitten or anyone else in the know? Eunice has just arrived there according to family and the forecasts seem to vary so much.

TonTonMacoute · 18/02/2022 14:35

SE Cornwall here, it's basically very very windy with occasional totally insane gusts.

My brand new mini greenhouse, which happily survived storm Dudley, was ripped to shreds about an hour ago Sad but otherwise not too bad.

Cat is not keen!

Just had someone on FB tell me, 'the sun is coming out now I think it’s over!' Grin She's in Sussex.

Lockheart newsthump.com/2020/02/09/thousands-of-brits-either-lose-or-gain-a-trampoline/

I keep on thinking the wind's dying down to reasonable levels and maybe we can get out to Lidl and for a spot of (safe!) wave watching, but then it picks up to scary levels again (S. Cornwall nr Falmouth). Annoyingly, it's lovely and sunny, which we haven't seen much of this winter.

I would say, for us, that this hasn't been as bad as the storms of February 2014- but we weren't in the red zone.

No trains in Devon and Cornwall because of trees down all over the place.

caranations · 18/02/2022 14:41

@Piggywaspushed

Edge of red zone here, north of Luton. Blowy.
Isn't it? We're a few miles east of you then, also right on the red edge. Calmed down a bit for half an hour, but it's just ramped up again. Neighbour's roof is still (mostly) attached, but there are bits of it in the street. No idea where my wheelie bins have gone.

I've lived here a long time and this is the worst it's been since October 87. Definitely not as bad as that though.

Tanith · 18/02/2022 14:41

Lockheart I have a horrible feeling it can't be replanted Sad

We haven't been out to inspect the damage properly, but I think it's been uprooted, not sure yet if the roots are broken. Real shame, if so: it was a beautiful tree!

Opal8 · 18/02/2022 14:41

Leicestershire
Very windy and rainy now

BlondeWidow · 18/02/2022 14:42

Outskirts of York - no storm whatsoever! Blue skies, sunshine and singing birds all day :)

EveryAvenue · 18/02/2022 14:43

Manchester here. Started driving at 1pm and just got home. Wasn’t too bad when I first got in the car but wind is horrific now. My car was rattling and on and off hail.

We've had sun all day, it seems to have missed us completely
TokyoSushi · 18/02/2022 14:44

Feel like we're late to the party here in Cheshire but it's definitely starting now!

sassbott · 18/02/2022 14:44

I’m in Greater London/ Surrey and it’s absolutely howling still. Super powerful gusts. Not remotely dying down here yet.

Huge tree came down a few houses down. Fortunately onto the road. No people. Houses or cars damaged.

Probably not but I still love it Smile

FindmeuptheFarawaytree · 18/02/2022 14:44

We're in the Forest of Dean area and it had died down a bit but we've just had some massive gusts and part of the roof of an old garden building has just blown off. Not a huge problem, just hoping the main house roof stays on! Really feel for those with bad damage.

Rowgtfc72 · 18/02/2022 14:44

East coast. Blowy with the odd gust. Alternating between brilliant sunshine and showers. Wind is howling though. Apparently we've got another couple of hours before it gets to us properly.

FeltCarrot · 18/02/2022 14:46

DH has just decided now is the time to go for a run, just as the wind is ramping up! 🤦‍♀️

Feels like we have had every weather system going today. I'm keeping my eye on next doors silver birch , covered in ivy that seems to be bending like the whomping willow
Justanotherobserver · 18/02/2022 14:49

BlondeWidow
I think you're in a different part of the county as she was saying earlier about roofs blowing off.

InMySpareTime · 18/02/2022 14:50

Definitely kicking off in Manchester now, we're down a couple of fence panels but they were ropey anyway, even before the storms.
