Very quick post , but good chance of aurora tonight, perhaps as far South as Norfolk. Good clear skies for many too!

@MooseBeTimeForSnow where are you? That photo is beautiful. We went out with the telescope a few hours ago but nothing where we are (as expected).
The stars were incredible though.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 04/11/2021 04:51

@PissedOffNeighbour22 I’m in Northern Canada!

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 04/11/2021 04:57

Close in latitude to Tobermory, Fort William etc.

I'm in Cumbria. Just flung open the curtains in excitement after reading this thread but despite it being wonderfully clear and amazing stars, nothing.

@MooseBeTimeForSnow Sadly we're not far enough north. I live in hope of seeing them here one day.
The only place we've seen them from is Iceland.

@Nowthereistwo

I might have been seeing things as I'm in Hertfordshire, but I was driving home at 6 tonight and I could see these changing colours in the sky and thought it was fireworks but it didn't follow the pattern of fireworks iykwim. Aurora makes sense of the colour and patterns.
It's possible, I know they were seen as far south as the midlands.

We get too much light pollution to see the aurora. We were lucky enough to see it when we went to Northern Finland 6 years ago. The lights were white not green.

FWIW I got no reports or alerts (e-Mail, Whattsap) at all from contacts I have in a widespread UK based Aurora group, maybe they were clouded out….

FWIW I thought forecasts had it that’s the CME products were due to hit late evening…

I’ll keep an eye on my e-mails and post if anybody in the group did report anything.

notimagain · 04/11/2021 08:47

Looks like the papers are now carrying reports of it being seen, or at least in images, as far south in Bedfordshire ….so if you were in a non light polluted spot it may have well been visible from Hertfordshire….

ShaneTheThird · 04/11/2021 08:52

My aurora watch app alerted me a few times yesterday red alert. Sadly there's far too much light pollution here but the sky's were clear. If I had a car I would have driven to find them.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 04/11/2021 12:50

My newsfeeds are full of amazing photos and videos this morning. Lots of tired people around here today!
