Flooding likely. Eek. It was bad enough at the weekend in the mids.

Lots of rain here and plenty in the night. No school run though. Child isolating.

www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2021-01-20 updated warnings.

InMySpareTime · 20/01/2021 14:46

The Mersey is pretty high through South Manchester, despite opening the flood gates in the water park, and the rain is still hammering down.
I'm expecting flooding nearby at this rate.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 20/01/2021 21:18

It's snowing heavily here now. Sticking to the rooftops, cars and grass despite the wet.

RosesforMama · 20/01/2021 21:20

Yes we have snow coming down fast in Trafford. Very strange storm.

wowfudge · 20/01/2021 21:26

@FlatteredRhubardFool - I'm a mile and a half away on fairly high ground. The dam is not a concern as it's been drained since the slipway was eroded and they are working on repairing it as we speak. The River Goyt is very high though through the valley below is and we're due snow overnight.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 20/01/2021 21:43

@wowfudge I think WB is 7 miles from us and we are downstream. We are uphill and a mile from the Goyt though. We have a complete covering of snow now. Even the road that was wet through less than an hour ago from the rain.

wowfudge · 20/01/2021 21:47

DP has just told me our glass kitchen roof is completely covered. I hate constant rain and I'm no fan of snow either!

wowfudge · 20/01/2021 21:48

It'll be bloody icy tomorrow I bet.

beenrumbled · 20/01/2021 21:51

It has rained in Manchester pretty much constantly for 2 days. Sometime between 8 and 9 tonight it turned to heavy snow and it is sticking despite how wet it has been.

CoffeeRunner · 20/01/2021 21:54

Also Mids. We live in the corner of a cul de sac. We never usually hear rain at the back of the house due to it being pretty sheltered.

I’ve had to turn the TV up tonight to hear above the rain. We are in a village & the lanes I need to go down to work were bad enough today - heaven knows if they’ll be passable tomorrow.

CoffeeRunner · 20/01/2021 21:56

No snow though. Only rain & wind.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 20/01/2021 22:06

I love the snow! It's so pretty! It's still coming down here and everywhere is covered.

wowfudge · 20/01/2021 22:12

There will have been no gritting due to the rain. Don't think I'll be going anywhere except for a walk tomorrow.

AcornAutumn · 20/01/2021 22:22

I just hopped on here because my cousins near Manchester have snow that they say was not forecast at all. Bummer.

I hope there are no nasty snow surprises in store generally.

Pan2 · 20/01/2021 22:52

Winter wonderland in the Peaks.

RosesforMama · 20/01/2021 22:52

Snow still coming down, about 3 inches now

FlatteredRhubardFool · 20/01/2021 22:56

The gritters were out here just before 9pm.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 20/01/2021 23:25

Snowing in Leicester now too.

KenAdams · 21/01/2021 00:23

It's been wild in Leicestershire for the past few hours. Really coming down.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/01/2021 01:46

crikey...

now snow here though.
