It's that time of year again! (MN weather section has been going for over ten years now, eep)

Met office have yellow warnings out for wind and rain for Friday.

www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2020-10-02 with a low pressure going the wrong way down the south coast.
It'll be worth watching along the Thames for any flood warnings, I think the barriers might be needed.

Then unfortunately, the models are showing varying degrees of deluges for the south into early next week, with perhaps 60-100mm of cumulative rainfall in one or two unlucky spots if the models verify. Keep an eye out on the met office for further warnings.

60.5mm in 24h. That's going to mess my graph up!

Oh dear, is it stick an extra bit of paper at the top territory?

Today has been miserable here but yesterday we ate tea in the garden at sil's.

Parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland have heavy rain warnings out.

Very heavy rain forecast here today, but it was actually a nice dry, if dull, morning (luckily - as County Council parks staff came into the estate and cleared away lots of dead wood and brush!!). But it has started raining in the past 20 minutes and it is heavy!! And it does look like staying that way based on rainfall radar showing what's coming from west coast.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/10/2020 12:33

There's plenty tomorrow too with heavy rain warnings for up to 50mm in the south of England.

Some very strong winds, perhaps severe gales on the far SE coast.

Very wet today. I'm more concerned about mid week next week though, models are consistently showing a very deep, very large low pressure system, traversing to the north of the uk. Of course, it's very early days, but it's something to keep a close eye on.

Thanks for the thread - realised how much I missed weather chat! What’s it looking like for the week coming OYBBK?

Bailey0703 · 24/10/2020 21:25

My god... corrugated roof in utility-room... cannot hear myself think.. LOVE IT !!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/10/2020 21:39

It's quite a stunner in the SE tonight isn't it! Met office weather warnings out tonight til Midnight. If there is any damage tonight from wind please shout out!

Tomorrow and Monday aren't too bad, Tuesday sees the return of gales and wind. Perhaps Thursday too.

Fairly torrential most of the day here in Cheshire, but seems to be easing off now.

Met office weather warnings for the NW on Thursday/Friday

Even though it will be wet at times in the south, it will also feel very mild, with temps around 14-15c. Gales too, especially along the south coast. So with the very wet ground a few weaker trees might give up on standing up.

Met Office have issued more rain warnings for Saturday and Sunday www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/warnings-and-advice/uk-warnings#?date=2020-11-01

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/10/2020 18:20

Thank you Audrey
I feel frustrated that the met office don't flag warnings on a local page if there aren't warnings in that local area. I can understand their logic, but it's not very helpful.

I know how the trees feel.
