As often happens when we have hot weather, there's going to be a thundery breakdown so the metoffice have issued warnings for the next few days.

Not everywhere will get a storm but torrential rain, hail and lightning could cause problems where they do occur.

Little 'bump' for any storms that kick off today.

I hope we catch some here! We really need some to clear our air.

Pascha · 25/06/2020 16:07

Oh I hope we get some. I feel so enervated in this heat. I'm in Kent.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 25/06/2020 16:11

Thanks. Just jumping on the thread. Really hope we get some thunder today

lubeybooby · 25/06/2020 16:14

I'm in an area where ventusky is showing a decent whack of CAPE with thunderstorms 5pm to 9pm showing up on hourly forecasts... but met office and weather.co.uk have now removed thunderstorms from the hourly predictions. Woe :( I will look at netweather and hope they somehow know better

LadyGAgain · 25/06/2020 16:16

It's 32 degrees here. I can't see a thunderstorm coming today!

lubeybooby · 25/06/2020 16:17

hmm.. netweather saying 41% chance

GloriaSmud · 25/06/2020 16:49

My weather station's saying it's 33.2C here (Leicester) at the moment.
Metoffice are giving us a chance of storms from 10am tomorrow morning for an hour or so before it heats up again and then a chance of more storms towards the evening.

We've just pitched our tent in the garden for Glast-home-bury, so we're bound to have a downpour Grin

Yes, that should do it, MrsPhyllisTyne Grin

Looks interesting just across the Channel, gradually moving north. It may fizzle out before it gets to me, unfortunately, as is usually the case with interesting weather.

beenrumbled · 26/06/2020 08:35

it was still 27degrees in the house when I woke up.

Its 24 outside, so all doors and windows open. It's very grey and overcast.

MrsPhyllisTyne · 26/06/2020 08:45

It's only 18C here at the moment, but we still have a yellow weather warning lingering. No rumbles or flashes overnight that we were aware of (apart from Liverpoil fans' fireworks!) Grin

GloriaSmud · 26/06/2020 09:40

After a warm night (with a 'low' of 17.6C at 4.29am), it was overcast first thing here (Leicester) but the sun's breaking through and beginning to get warm - 20C

Just had a shower, not very heavy - the ground has started to dry already!

It wasn't heavy enough to cool anything down, and has just increased the humidity

Thoughts from Netweather on today's storms.

OP posts:
beenrumbled · 26/06/2020 11:44

Another shower to tease me!

Lasted a bit longer but again now stopped and the heat building again.

GloriaSmud · 26/06/2020 12:39

No showers at the moment - just hot!

Netweather's weather radar and more thoughts from Netweather.

Blue sunny skies and hot here now - hopefully the calm before the storm!

I've risked putting washing on the line!

TeaStory · 26/06/2020 12:51

I’m in Kent, we had a pretty loud thunderstorm from about 5am to about 6:30am today. It’s hot and sunny now.

beenrumbled · 26/06/2020 17:50

My washing dried quickly, we had, another shower and nothing since, though looking on the lightning tracker there are storms to the east and west of us. The clouds are certainly building!

My friend who lives in Leeds has had thundery downpours and hail.

GloriaSmud · 27/06/2020 07:33

Absolutely nothing here yesterday.
There were some thunder-type clouds that built up in the afternoon and we had some 'chubby' raindrops about 5pm but that was it. We've had rain and it's cooled down a bit overnight though.

Metoffice have updated their warnings - thunderstorms/rain for the north/Scotland.

OP posts:
beenrumbled · 27/06/2020 09:02

Well no storms yesterday, we have had a couple of light showers this morning, the house is loads cooler downstairs but last night was still uncomfortable.

All windows and doors ope this morning !

TheSparklyPussycat · 27/06/2020 12:19

There was a thunderstorm not that far away yesterday, my friend was near to it. All we had here was a few rumbles, and two (!) flashes of lightning.
