Where are you all? I hope Kitten and Gloria are ok, I miss them and the whole weather chat. It's been too dry for weeks in my garden but I waited for this week's chill to pass and planted out the tomatoes, courgettes and aubergines yesterday. Also the summer flowers, it feels instantly cheerier here.

Well I lost all of my tomatoes and cucumbers to some sort of blight/virus last year. Every one, it was a very wet June last year and we had a couple of weeks of non stop rain and wind around here. From then on the tomatoes and cucumbers just continued to deteriorate. I do grow them outside as I don't have a green house but I choose outdoor varieties and blight resistant ones (not that it helped last year) . This year they are all growing on in a lovely way. I think they look wonderfully healthy compared to this time last year anyway. Still time for lots to go wrong though as they haven't set flower yet.

I’d quite like the rain without the much colder temperatures. It’s one extreme to another!

GloriaSmud · 03/06/2020 08:38

bumblingbovine49 - I had that with my tomatoes last year at the allotment - all growing fine and then got the blight thing after the very wet June.

Rain has started here (Leicester) Could be some good bursts of rain for some areas today and there are some unsettled days to come - Netweather's weather radar.

Noflora · 03/06/2020 11:08

Only the finest mizzle so far, not wetting anything and all the decent rain in the forecast has gone. Gutted as I was a bit idle in garden watering yesterday. Still, might it change again Gloria for Central South Eng? Fingers crossed for a steady period of wetting/butt filling rain.

Yes noflora, it's all changed. The metoffice was forecasting showers through most of today for us, with spells of heavy rain but that's all gone now. The weather front sort of fizzles out as it moves across the country the rest of today/overnight. There might still be some heavy bursts though but don't think those water butts are going to get a huge amount in them today.

PrimeroseHillAnnie · 03/06/2020 12:16

Its raining.

GreyGardens88 · 03/06/2020 12:16

No rain yet in London despite it being forecast

megletthesecond · 03/06/2020 13:10

Nothing in north Hampshire yet.
I'm doing a rain dance, aka putting some laundry out.

Delatron · 03/06/2020 13:37

We’ve had some drizzly on and off rain here in Buck. I’ve put my jeans in for the first time in weeks and made some soup.

Hopefully we can have a decent amount of rain then the weather can perk up again!

Baaaahhhhh · 03/06/2020 16:43

We've had about ten spots in Surrey. Still holding out for a storm later on, my water butts are just filled with spiders.

Noflora · 03/06/2020 16:49

Nothing in the butts yet and I've just noticed the heavy rain forecast ( which only appeared at lunchtime!) for this evening has gone too. Hurrumph

I'm in South Yorkshire. We have had a lot of rain since last night. It has rained for most of the day. My garden is loving it.

Noflora · 04/06/2020 19:52

Not a drop in my butt. The nearest reliable rain gauge says 0.4m but it was over so many hours that it evaporated without troubling the gutters. Still, the lawn and foliage will have liked the moisture.

BiddyPop · 04/06/2020 22:25

Our butt got from completely empty to just reaching the tap today, about 4 inches. Slight progress but the ground is parched, grass is brown and dying and some trees are starting to show the beginnings of leaf shrivelling. Not good, especially this early in summer.

Ginfordinner · 04/06/2020 23:08

Loads of rain forecast for the next few days, and cold Sad

AMileInMyShoes · 04/06/2020 23:10

Its been dribbling here all day .... 💦

Baaaahhhhh · 05/06/2020 14:26

Still nothing here..... just cool and blowy now. Looks more promising for rain tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed.

Ginfordinner · 05/06/2020 14:46

It's rained on and off here so far today.

BiddyPop · 05/06/2020 15:52

It might be short lived, but at last there is a heavy shower falling here, going to check the tap is closed on the rainbutt...

BiddyPop · 05/06/2020 16:06

VERY short lived. Oh well, a couple of watering cans worth collected....

Ginfordinner · 05/06/2020 18:57

Where are the posters who aren't getting rain?

It's very welcome here in South Yorkshire, but I'm back in cold weather clothes now Sad

Noflora · 05/06/2020 19:13

Butts still dry. South Oxon Gin

Good few showers/heavy bursts of rain for many areas over the weekend before high pressure builds again early this week and it's looking like it could be pleasantly warm for many areas towards next weekend.

Netweather thinks there could be the chance of thunderstorms today.

Baaaahhhhh · 06/06/2020 11:06

Where are the posters who aren't getting rain?

Deepest Surrey, A3 corridor. Always the hottest and driest.

Ginfordinner · 06/06/2020 11:26

I thought East Anglia was the driest part of the UK. I can see that we will get temperatures in the low 20s by next weekend, but still plenty of rain.
However, I do live on the edge of the Pennines in reservoir country.
