Has anyone tried that DIY air cooler, with bottles of ice on the back of a fan?

At the moment, I have a fan going, with a bowl of ice about half a meter away from it and it's catching the air as it goes passed it. It's a bit cooler, but what do you think? Can't help thinking that it's not a great move to have water on the back of an electrical appliance, but there's plenty of tutorials on YouTube to do it.

Has anyone tried it?

Did it help in the end? I'm a bit worried it would just make the air fractionally more humid than it already was.

I don't think anything DIY would have helped yesterday! It lasted about 10 minutes, before I was too scared of the water electricity combo and I took it off!Grin

Lol!!! That sounds wise. Interesting mini experiment. I decided it was a good day to give my pond a good sort out.
