Friday could be a stormy day for western areas. Current warnings issued by the metoffice and Netweather mention it here.
Perhaps one to watch.

Marking place. Thanks for starting a thread, was wondering about this as there may be some form of warning issued here in Ireland for Friday.

GloriaSmud · 09/10/2018 10:07

I think there could well be one coming along for you HalfStar and maybe the metoffice might extend theirs southwards to cover the welsh and SW coasts as well.
The wind gusts for Friday 6am ~ the west coast of Ireland looks like it'll get a real battering looking at that chart.

Updated to orange warning in many parts of Ireland.

GloriaSmud · 10/10/2018 12:56

I'm not surprised at that, HalfStar, it looks like the Irish coasts are going to get the full force of it all from early Friday.

Netweather's thoughts on it.

well done Gloria!

Life is finally starting to calm down so I can start weather watching again soon :)

Ginfox · 12/10/2018 07:02

Far north Western Isles here. Met office forecast is for Storm 10 later today in The Minch. Currently reading 22mph winds at Stornoway airport, but feels stronger up here.

All battery lights checked, fire laid, jigsaws and board games ready, for the inevitable power cut later. First day of half term so we can stay home and get cosy.

However if we have power I will let you know how we get on. Good luck everyone!🌊

hoochymama1 · 12/10/2018 07:24

Thanks for the updates Gloria, a wild and windy West Yorkshire here Smile

HalfStar · 12/10/2018 09:20

Sounds rather lovely Gin!

Stormy here in Ireland but not that bad. Much less damage around than storm Ali. People were more prepared also.

GloriaSmud · 12/10/2018 10:25

Glad to be of service was beginning to get a bit lonely, talking to myself!

'Tis rather dark and blowy here (Leicester) It's also the start of half term today and we're spending next week near Exmouth. Looks like we're in for a fun journey tomorrow Grin

www.xcweather.co.uk

is good for looking at peak wind gusts so far.

brizzledrizzle · 12/10/2018 16:14

Watching and (trying not to be) worried - my DD is driving back down here at the moment and she's not experienced at driving in bad weather.

hoochymama1 · 12/10/2018 16:58

Take care tomorrow Gloria. Hmm the fences here are bending in a worrying way. But I just took the dog out so it's not that bad Grin

GloriaSmud · 12/10/2018 21:09

Will do, hoochymama.
Report on the BBC website here ~ the footage of Exmouth is Shock

Well it was windy all afternoon and very windy and noisy until about 2am. But nothing unusual for here. I'm guessing it got to around 60mph, but waiting for our local weather geek to put the stats on Facebook.
Mainland has definitely had the worst of it.

brizzledrizzle · 13/10/2018 11:38

Not about the weather but it's odd having a weather thread without OYBBK - has she name changed? Hope she's OK.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/10/2018 15:18

I'm here :) hoping to have more mental space for weather stuff soon.

brizzledrizzle · 13/10/2018 15:34
Smile
hoochymama1 · 13/10/2018 18:20

How did you get on, Gloria?
Dried two loads of washing outside today, it felt like a tumble dryer Grin Sotheby's wales and the West Country have had it bad. Good to see your ok OYBBK.

hoochymama1 · 13/10/2018 18:21

Huh South Wales, stupid phone.

GloriaSmud · 13/10/2018 21:46

Aw thanks for asking, hoochymama. Was wet at the start of the journey, dry in the middle and cloudy/warm and windy at the end. It's now raining and looking rather wet overnight and into tomorrow morning.
Just seen on the BBC website about the flooding in South Wales Sad Looks like the metoffice were right with their Amber warning.
