I'm in SW London. We've had rumblings of thunder for the last 15 minutes, or so. No lightning yet and no rain either yet.

Amazing here in SE London. Surprised the transmitters haven’t been knocked out. And from a clear sky, no warning. GBOOM!

There could be thunderstorms popping up anywhere over the next few days, especially in the south and more likely as we get mid-end of the week.
After the winter we've had, this is lovely weather and I'd like more of the same for the summer!

Gloria - so, could be an interesting week! It was a lovely day today, and fortunately I'd finished putting in the bedding plants in the garden before the rain started.

kooshbin ~ it could indeed, especially for the south/SE. I've been holding off putting my bedding plants in the garden and veg plants at the allotment until it's just a little cooler and there's more of a chance of rain to get them watered afterwards!

For our area we're seeing 26c but storms.

Lighthouse ~ 'tis looking fairly decent for the weekend. Rather warm for the south (24/25C) and OK for the north (more 18-22C) But yes, storms might develop anywhere from the midlands southwards, from Saturday evening onwards.

My bbc weather forecast is showing storm from day eve right through to sun midday?

How likely are we to see this extended period of thunder and lightning?

I am heading out 7am Sunday am to drive an hours journey and want to be prepared for what to expect!

Delatron ~ you should do OK for warmth (and possibly thunderstorms!) Those are looking more likely from Saturday night onwards but could pop up the rest of the week as well, as the warmth looks like it might stick around the whole week.

youarenotkiddingme ~ the south up to the midlands could see storms tonight into tomorrow. Over the weekend, Saturday evening and overnight into Sunday, there's a chance of storms but I would have thought at 7am Sunday morning, the heat wouldn't have had time to build, so perhaps unlikely at that time.

Thanks so much Gloria. I'm just pleased that it's warm for the end of May and we may see some sunshine. Thunderstorm in a tent may be interesting! At least we won't be cold.

Gloria 😬. We've just had lots of thunder here a couple of hours ago (Bucks). Storms must be heading your way from here!

Delatron ~ Netweather's Radar here gives the impression that our weather's come from the east over the last couple of hours but it was definitely looking dark to the south of us so maybe it's all converged over Leicester!
It's just started raining but we had a beautiful sunset about 30 minutes ago!
