... considering camping in Cornwall on the early May bank holiday weekend. Am I madly optimistic?

It's a bit early to say (too far out for the weather models.) If it helps though, the metoffice's long range forecast is saying this ~ might give a vague idea...

UK Outlook for Monday 30 Apr 2018 to Monday 14 May 2018:
The weather is likely to be more unsettled at the end of April and beginning of May. Showers or longer spells of rain are expected, which are likely to be most frequent in the northwest, with south-eastern parts of the British Isles still having some decent dry and bright spells. Temperatures are likely to have returned to near average. Confidence in the forecast reduces as we head into May, although mixed conditions are expected, with some showery periods, interspersed by some drier spells. Temperatures are likely to vary quite markedly, perhaps with some cold northerly winds developing for a time during the early to middle part of May.

Tentatively saying 'ooh isn't the weather nice at the moment'? It's a bit cooler today but loving the sunshine and warm temps in the south (not that warm but pleasant).

Trying to look towards next bank holiday as I'm going camping. Wonder if it will stay settled? BBC forecast looks ok.
