I have to attend a funeral tomorrow in West Yorkshire. I’m traveling by train from east Anglia early in the morning! Will I get home again or should I pack essentials for the homeward journey?

I absolutely have to attend but I’m concerned about the weather tomorrow.
Can any of you wise weather people tell me it will be ok?
Traveling to Leeds and back from Peterborough.

Leeds has a forecast of heavy snow tommorow pm, and I have heard that some train services around Peterborough and elsewhere in Cambridgeshire have been cancelled due to the weather forecast. In my experience, Travel links around Leeds do not cope well with snow, because they are at capacity st the best of times.

In your shoes, i’d be prepared to spend the night in Leeds.

Having said that, I suspect that the Leeds-London intercity will be the service that is prioritised. Don’t think they all stop at Peterborough though. Bring your toothbrush. 😉

Sorry, i’ve assumed that you are travelling by train. If driving, i’d definitely pack some essentials. The M62/A1/M1 south of Leeds collapses very easily.

I’m going by train.

Some of the EoE train services are being cancelled from 10pm tonight. I am not clear when they are starting again.
I would probably go prepared to stay overnight.

Thankfully it was on Tuesday. It was bitterly cold and it took 6 trains to get there and back but I’m so glad I got there.

I’m so glad. Missing a funeral is the kind of thing that can haunt you. Sorry for your loss.
