Bit of a special one tomorrow ~ some info here. There will be a lunar eclipse for some areas of the world (not the UK though ~ we have to wait until 27th/28th July for one of those) but we should get a good sighting of the Spacestation as well (around 6.19pm, depending on where you are in the country.)

So let's hope for some clear skies!

No sign of the moon here yet but there are clear skies so hopefully we'll get to see it soon.

Moon behind clouds. Bummer!

Sorry OP but I had to laugh at you updating and nobody having posted Grin Sorry!

But no I've been reading about this, I love keeping up to date on special full moons and more so as a city fan it being a blue moon :)

Unfortunately I'm in the UK and it's completely cloudy :(

olliegarchy99 · 31/01/2018 18:09

just looked out of my kitchen window at the rising (super) moon - it is superb as we have totally clear weather (east herefordshire if anyone wants to see it)
apparently it is best seen at early evening (like now) or early morning Smile

olliegarchy99 · 31/01/2018 18:10

no space station though Grin

GloriaSmud · 31/01/2018 18:12

Grin I know sparkly ~ I was beginning to wonder whether I'd end up talking to myself! Going to head out in a minute to see if I can see the space station going over. It should be visible for about 3 minutes, so a good long time tonight.

GloriaSmud · 31/01/2018 18:13

Should appear in about 5 minutes olliegarchy

How do you know if you've seen the space station???

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/01/2018 18:26

Yes we’ve got the super moon, and when I called the dc out to see it, we saw what we think was the space station too!

Perfect moon but no ss here

Cavender · 31/01/2018 18:29

In Texas we had a Super Blue Blood Moon at about 6:15am this morning.

It was awesome.

It’s the first time it’s happened in the US since 1866.

AFingerofFudge · 31/01/2018 18:30

We saw a light moving in the sky, a bit like you see aeroplanes but it looked like a star moving (not shooting!) and there were no flashes like you get with aircraft. Was that it? DS3 is desperately hoping it was!!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/01/2018 18:30

Fudge it looks like a very bright moving pinpoint a bit like a plane really high up but a single light which is sunlight reflected.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 31/01/2018 18:31

x post. Sounds good :)

That sounds like that was it, Fudge.

I saw it (our neighbour must have thought I was a right fool, standing out there in the dark, with my coat and mug of tea as she put her bins out!) And the moon's now out from behind clouds as well.

Ohh it's so cloudy here :( not fair

Love this pics though!

megletthesecond · 31/01/2018 18:48

afinger

this should be the NASA spot the station link. IIRC you need to pop your postcode in via the sign up link then you'll get emails every time the ISS passes over the UK.

GloriaSmud · 31/01/2018 19:00

If you enjoy all things to do with the space station, there are two livestreams here and here (not a lot to be seen at the moment as the ISS is in the night side of earth at the moment.)

OP posts:
AFingerofFudge · 31/01/2018 19:23

Yay!!! We saw it!!!
