I actually can't remember the last time it was so cold here (North Manchester).. I've got used to the wet mild winters recently.

How cold is it going to be where you are?

-6 here. Main worry is the slush and snow freezing tonight and being like an ice rink in the morning

-12!!! All local schools closed. Salt no good at that temp. Roads will be like ice rinks.

Brr I'm not made for this. I'm more comfortable in 40° than 4°!

Very mild here, it’s not been below -10 yet. Warmest winter in years and only 20cm of snow :(

-1 here. We had snow on Sunday....that melted by Sunday evening

-4 here. I have had the heating on for half an hour and it is still nippy.

I hate the cold. I love snow as I find it is warmer but the thick frost of the last 2 days is bloody unpleasent.

-9 here Now but it was -12 at 3am (the dog woke me up by jumping into bed with me because she was cold!)

I've got the heating on full whack but the house still feels chilly at the moment.

I'm m/c and it's feels absolutely freezing 😩😭 I'm dreading going out to take the kids. I'm dithering just in the house with the heating on x

Its currently -9 here which is 9 degrees colder than the met office says it is. Its supposed to drop from 0 to -5 at 9am. Given its already -9 on all 3 of my weather stations I'm anticipating a drop to at least -12.

Typically every school in the area is closed except ds because theyre trying to get them to the pantomime.

Enjoyed a quick run to the bus stop. Ds'school, at the top of a hill, emailed to say closed 5 mins after he's left! Fortunately the bus was running late....

Seriously, if you live anywhere in the uk where it snows regularly get winter tyres - they grip better in ice and slush and heavy rain too. I now live in Sweden and the thought of trying to drive in snow on summer tyres is just 😱

I’ve just driven 90 mins to nursery and back in a foot of snow that’s not all been ploughed - possible only because of winter tyres. I think a lot of people still mistakenly think you need the spiked ones and you don’t. They look like regular tyres.

If it was up to me it’d be the law from Yorkshire upwards in winter. It’s lethal driving with summer tyres in snow.

I live over 300m up the side of a mountain, the nearest the gritter gets is 1/2 mile away, and we have been managing just fine this weekend, driving out for such mundane tasks as going to b&q to buy skirting board and the likes!

Our road has been the busiest I have ever known it over this weekend (prime sledging location), with cars parked on every verge.

I'm 32 weeks pregnant and have been managing to walk the dog/ play with the dog in garden everyday, without freezing to death or coming to any snow or ice related harm.

This morning I look at the news to find that one of the local high schools, down at sea level (where there was no snow) is closed due to ice...FFS!!

It's just WINTER!!!!

Our High School is closed due to ice. Maybe if you knew that last year no less than 5 families 'sued' the school for various ice related falling injuries you might not be so "FFS" about it.

things have changed. I remember at primary school us all making a huge playground skating ring around the whole thing, with huge chains of kids tugging each other along. There was definitely at least one broken arm that I can remember but it was bloody awesome!

It was -9c here two days ago, today it was 5c. Turns out I'm a big fan of those 14 degrees.

It’s going to be 2 degrees and rainy here. I loathe wet, mild winters. I really want a snow day!

USA here. We have 6” if snow on the ground. It rained yesterday so there is ice on to of the snow. It’s -9 today dropping to -18 tonight the wind chill tonight will add to that.

House is reasonably warm but the only heat we have is the wood stove
