As it feels cool, overcast and autumnal - just how I like it!🍂

Is there any chance the hot weather will come back or is it time to start digging my woollies out?

To my (extremely amateur) eye, the GFS for the next 2 weeks gives a few one-off warm/hot/nice days but then it all returns to the sort of thing we've got ~ showers, cloud and meh.

DH mentioned yesterday that they (not sure who the 'they' are here) are talking about the UK having an early Autumn. It does feel like it's started already and the thought crossed my mind yesterday as it was chilly, that I could put the heating on. Then I thought, 'but it's August ~ the heating does not go on in August' and put a jumper on instead! I could do with a bit more warmth, bit more sun and some showers instead of days of rain, like we've had over the last day or two.

PoisonousSmurf · 09/08/2017 12:08

I want to put my wood burner on. Never do that in August!

Bin85 · 09/08/2017 12:09

Wearing my boots!

CiderwithBuda · 09/08/2017 12:09

I'm so over it. Thankfully going away tomorrow so will get some sun.

It's miserable. I blame Brexit. Bloody Europe keeping all the nice weather while we get the crap. Grin

TheWoollybacksWife · 09/08/2017 12:11

Gloria every year for the last 10 or so years I get back from our holidays and say it feels autumnal. We got back on Saturday so I should probably accept the blame for the bad weather. I'm currently cuddled up to a hot water bottle and ignoring the ironing.

However, after a few years of my autumnal comments DH is now joining in Grin🍂🍂🍂

GloriaSmud · 09/08/2017 12:25

Cider ~ Grin I was saying something similar to my Dad a few days ago. It's like we've done a swap and Europe have had their usual amount of sun and had ours added as well and we've got our usual amount of rain and any rain Europe might have had, we've been given.

Woollybacks ~ it's when you go outside, even on nice evenings and do a and think 'it's a bit chilly to stay out here.' It doesn't help that the nights are drawing in and it's well on it's way to being dark at 9pm. I'm sure I've always had the thought 'Autumn is coming' a few weeks later in the year than this (more early September.) I shouldn't be having that 'Autumn feeling' this early in the year!

RaininSummer · 09/08/2017 12:36

Its horrible hence my new user name. Haven't even had my two weeks off work yet and am crying out for sun. Started taking my vit D tablets again this week as already have the autumn aches and pains.

PollytheDolly · 09/08/2017 12:39

It's shite. I need sun!

Berrybakecake1 · 09/08/2017 12:46

August is always shite. It's usually warm and sunny when the kids start school so I'm waiting for my couple of weeks of sunshine then.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/08/2017 12:47

it's not looking great.

PaleAzureofSummer · 09/08/2017 12:52

I think we should copy Scotland's school year. We seem to always get all the nice weather when they are at school.

Abra1d · 09/08/2017 12:54

We had very hot weather in June and early July here in the south.

Some of the leaves are turning now. I'm not kidding.

SnickersWasAHorse · 09/08/2017 12:55

I don't like the heat but I wanted one day where I could sit in the pub beer garden with a pint book.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 09/08/2017 13:02

Its rubbish. We have a bit of money all of a sudden (due to the car passing the MOT test) so would have loved to do something tomorrow. But the weather is not great so doesn't look like anything fantastic.

magimedi · 09/08/2017 13:34

Hate to tell you that here on East Sussex coast it's warm enough for shorts + tshirt & a lovely sea swim this morning.

PaleAzureofSummer · 09/08/2017 15:29

Really? It's been torrential in Surrey!

PaleAzureofSummer · 09/08/2017 15:36

Looks like it's mainly the South East but just missing the East Sussex coast.

So is that it for summer weather now?
magimedi · 09/08/2017 15:42

We've just had about an hour or rain (not too heavy) but blue sky appearing now. We often seem to miss the rain here - my garden knows that!

gttia · 09/08/2017 20:01

The met office tweet says it might improve towards the end of August.
That's how I read, but maybe I interpreted what I wanted it to say!

ImogenTubbs · 09/08/2017 20:06

Sorry, this might not make any of you feel better but I'm in Spain and we've had a bloody heatwave - it's been scorching - 36/37 degrees or more every day. Which is fine if you can lounge around drinking a spritzer but not so good if you have a pre-schooler on summer holiday to entertain and a load of housework to do. Have been dripping with sweat and frazzled. Finally overcast and windy tonight - am breathing a sigh of relief!

Slimthistime · 19/08/2017 19:43

Accuweather has 27 for London on Wednesday?

itusedtobeverydifferent · 19/08/2017 19:46

When it's sunny though, it's really hot sun. So no, it's not autumnal. Just a bit chilly in the cloud/wind.

Slimthistime · 19/08/2017 22:12

Now lbc say hot from Monday
Confusing

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/08/2017 22:16

don't worry-
as soon as school starts it will immediately be glorious sunny hot weather Wink
dont get the woolies out yet....

badger2005 · 22/08/2017 16:09

Hi weather experts! Any update on this? Is there going to be another big summery blast??!
I bought a paddling pool just before the start of the summer holidays, and it has just sat collecting rainwater all summer...
