It's been showing for a couple of days, but of course everyone was rather distracted by the snow. It finally makes headlines today. I hope that people have been able to clear their belongings to higher floors before leaving.

bbc reports Several thousand properties have been evacuated.

Just seen a warning which lists my road as one for possible flooding (tidal river nearby). My house is halfway up the hill though, so I''m hoping we'll be OK! DP works at the port further up the coast so I suspect I'll know when it hits....

Monkey, have the council been actively involved in informing residents?

I haven't heard anything from the council myself, I've been watching local news and checking the floodwatch website etc. I'm not in an area that's been evacuated though, that's further down the coast from me.
