Weather next week- stay in UK or go abroad?

I've never posted in this section before! Got a week off next week- looking for a super last minute holiday. If it's nice we will stay in UK, possibly south west. If it's rubbish we will hunt for a forrin bargain

Any predictions would be much appreciated!!

I would always go abroad, even if the weather was hot here. However, i'm not really sure last minute bargains exist any more. By their nature it does tend to be the leftover holidays that nobody else wants.
Mind you, i suppose the same could be said for holidays here in the UK at this late stage,

well, it will probably change!! It's quite a long way off in forecasting land, especially mid week on. Much of southern England looks nice next week but it's possible that the west may be unsettled. Temps down into low-mid 20s. I'd say that my forecast confidence is pretty low given the synoptic situation.

If you want heat, then Southern Europe looks pretty good. I'd perhaps stay away from northern Italy unless you like good thunderstorms.

Thank you! Budget up to £1k maybe- but there's 5 of us. I know that's really pushing it, but we've already been away this year so can't really justify more.
Yes I think you're right about lack of bargains- everything abroad is still v pricey, even if you look at flights/ hotels separately.

I guess I'll have to hold my nerve for a few more days! Or just accept that weather might be rubbish

why don't you post in 'short haul' requesting south of France or northern Spain?

Thanks OYBBK- had hijacked someone else's thread there and got a few ideas. I think realistically we will stay in UK. Nowhere is cheap with 5!

understood! in uk, stay in the south for warmer weather. Prod me tomorrow and I'll have another look.

I'd go for a cottage in the UK somewhere. i think with your budget and the fact that there's five of you means that abroad is probably out this time.

However, i'm sure you would find a lovely three bed cottage to suit your needs.
Personally we like West Wales, Dorset and the Cotswolds for a cottage holiday, although haven't done one for a few years.
