I've just been looking at the contingency planners info on the met office. It is impossible to tell at the moment what early summer will look like. We may be falling into a La Nina pattern which would tend to bring cooler more unsettled weather, but the sea temperatures are such that they would imply warmer settled weather.

So there - a pointless thread telling you nothing Grin

Same here.

Bloody miserable day here. Not too cold but wet.

Ugh!

Titsywoo · 21/05/2016 19:04

The long term forecast shows weather here (south East) turning from early June. Sounds about right. The last few years the only summer we have had has been June and July then it goes to shit again!

Well got a bit of sunshine today. I put my washing out and the clouds are back Sad

CatThiefkeith · 22/05/2016 21:18

I take it these post on FB about 10 days til the hottest summer on record are bollocks then? Sad

TheKnittingMidwife · 02/06/2016 20:57

can anyone please tell me when we are likely to have a day or two of summer? Pleeeeease can someone do something? I'm getting seriously grumpy with the cold now, my house is freezing. Huh.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/06/2016 03:18

Midlands, but it's been lovely today and the forecast for tomorrow is good too. Love it....

SweetPeaPods · 06/06/2016 22:10

Gorgeous day today in Midlands.
OYBBK do you know anything yet about next weeks forecast? We're looking to go to either Hampshire or Wiltshire for a few days sun-fri. BBC online showing rain at the minute. Thanks!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/06/2016 07:44

I'm out and about at the moment but I'll have a look later :)

Perfect, thank you!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/06/2016 10:42

Sadly it does look cooler and showery, possibly with some heavy rain thrown in at times. Sorry.

We had a big thunderstorm at around 2pm. We live on top of a hill and the hill was flooded let alone in the valley at the bottom. Never seen rain like it before!! Fingers crossed that there will be no more rain for the rest of the day!!

CPtart · 07/06/2016 16:54

We are well into the second week of wall to wall blue skies and soaring temps here in Lancashire. It's been glorious. Love, love love it.

SweetPeaPods · 07/06/2016 20:20

Thanks OYBBK. Will hold off booking tickets for now.
Very muggy here this evening. No rain yet

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/06/2016 07:58

Fraid it looks pants everywhere next week. Cool and heavy showers.

After ridiculously heavy rain yesterday in London, it is pissing it down relentlessly today too. Are we in for one of those awful summers where the jet stream sits on top of the UK and rains for months, or is just a passing phase?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/06/2016 11:52

The met office say that global drivers for the weather over the summer look weak, so there are no strong signals for either a hot dry summer or a cool wet one and that therefore the summer will probably be average.

So my utter utter guess is, that we will have periods of cool damp weather interspersed with warm dry weather.

GFS hints at some pretty decent temps the week after next, especially in the south. It also though looks to be quite a thundery set up. Will be interesting to keep an eye on.

Thanks OYBBK! Ah, the joys of a traditional British summer... But good to hear it probably won't be a total washout.

Coldest · 14/06/2016 20:43

:( I depressed!
