Where in the UK is likely to have a dry spell over the next couple of weeks?

We've just bought a new tent, but am now a bit despairing that we'll get to actually use it...

Everywhere UK based that I'm looking seems to be a bit gloomy and rainy for the upcoming week or so.

Obviously I'd prefer glorious sunshine, but I'm happy to settle for somewhere that won't rain. I cannot do rainy camping, I cannot do it.

Is there anywhere that we can camp that is unlikely to rain and not be freezing cold before school starts? We're in London, but willing to travel...

Things may improve towards mid week next week but I'm by no means certain and I'm afraid for the next 7 days I can't promise you dry weather anywhere. I would love to give you some positive news.

I think you will need to head South, as in Europe, to get any chance of warm weather.

I don't expect it will warm up here until the schools start back in September.

I don't remember a summer like this where we were struggling to even achieve 20°C. If we reach 17°C here at the moment, we're 'lucky' Hmm

I keep telling myself at least its not like 2007! Do you remember the floods?

PestoSwimissimos · 21/08/2015 09:25

I don't really remember the floods that year, but that's probably because we were fortunate enough to escape being affected.

It feels sooo muggy this morning, what's that all about? Confused

Lots of moist warm air being drawn up at the moment! I quite like it :)

the floods were when Tewkesbury got cut off, there was the big drama over the substation being unindated which would have meant fresh water being cut off for thousands (or something like that, cant be arsed to google!) and lots of the Thames went into flood (though not as bad as the winter before last)

We are thinking of going to hayling Island next week but it looks like rain except for Friday. Friday looks good right now everywhere, but it changes every day. Yesterday, Thursday was looking good too but it changed again. Fucking great(!)

its impossible to forecast more than probably 3 days in advance at the moment. hmpff.

I think the thing to do is just aim for days when it wont rain all day and take good waterproofs.

Kind of alarmed by the models for this coming week. Some huge rainfall totals possible by the end of the week!
