Fed up of this crap weather

Yes yes I know the SE have had hot weather. But in the far west it has been windy and grey, with the odd blast of humid warmth, for weeks. In fact it has been shite since Easter.

When are we getting a summer?

Does anyone else want to whinge impotently or is it just me?

It looks absolutely dreadful from tomorrow through next week. The charts look rather like a week from the middle of winter with low after low and so much rain :( even where its not been too bad (if rather windy) it looks very unsettled.

This is just shit Angry

Seems whenever there is a hot summer on the Continent the systems set up so that we are bombarded by low pressures week after week.

Any ideas yet about August OYBBK? Though I don't know why I'm asking. A couple of weeks ago the Met Office were reasonably confident that pressure would build from the end of July.

Here's a minimalist poem for us all to enjoy:

"Summer.
Just Winter.
With leaves."

What do you think?

Hester ~ 'tis a work of genius! Is there a way of working into it the metoffice wind/rain weather warning as well!

Fab poem!

I fear I am not very optimistic about the start of August. The high pressure seems very feeble and easily moved.

Arse to feeble and easily moved high pressure :(

We had a damp start down in Hampshire, including a spectacular dumping of rain when I was on the motorway. cloudy for the rest of the day. forecast is cloudy until Friday.

I'm well fed up with the weather - we've been camping in Cornwall since Saturday (which was thankfully ok for the pitch) and since midnight Saturday it's been wall to wall rain or wind. I love my rock solid bell tent but it's been sorely tested. We're going to the beach today whatever but I am truly miffed because this is basically our only holiday. Grump.

I agree it's a pissy washout this year. We're supposed to be camping for a week from Sunday - I have no doubt we'll go anyway, but I can't help feeling disappointed in the forecast which is pretty awful.
Pfffft.

Oh and Hay those bell tents are solid aren't they? We've got one too.
We did 10 days in the Lakes at the beginning of July and it rained plenty then. The old bell weathered it well, like it always does. As much as I'm grumping about the forecast coming up for the next trip, I know we'll be home and dry in the tent.

Forecast today of max 12C, rain and just for a wee change, wind from the north. I'd like to be optimistic about August, but it's usually wetter than June and July here.
I once camped for a very wet few days in Aviemore. The tent was fine, but so much water was coming off the hill, it was like a river passing through the awning. I've not camped much since then and lust after a camper van.

pictish they truly are. It's brilliant -spacious, cozy and solid. And thanks to the sun sneaking shamefacedly back in for the afternoon, it seems to be nearly dry again! If this lasts till tomorrow I'll have no wet tent issues when we take it down.
I hope the sun has peered out where you all are, too.

Well it was dry here today all day, with just a stiff westerly to contend with. But dry and sunny, with a good forecast until Sunday.

Our Autumnal weather has continued today with sunshine and showers. I was looking at some of the weather threads from last winter earlier today and some days we had warmer temperatures in January than we've had the last few days.

From what I can tell, things are looking better/warmer towards the weekend and especially into next week but only really for some areas. Looks like Northern England and Scotland miss out on the brief spell of summer next week Sad

Chilly night here ~ down to 7C 4.53am. On BBC Breakfast it was mentioned that there might be chance of a grass frost in some areas over the next few nights. Shock and Brrrr!

I saw the weather last night and it he said that parts of NE Scotland would be down to 1 Celsius. ONE BLOODY DEGREE?

Is this a nuclear winter or something and we didn't know about it?

Or will we get an amazing September?

I hope anyone camping in those areas has lots of blankets with them tonight, Hester. I know the UK has mediocre summers some years but I can't remember the last time it got down to near freezing in some areas in July!

The Guardian have invited their readers to share their underwelming UK holiday photos. I think they just about sum up the summer so far!

Scotland is on track to have it's coldest summer since 1972...... Mustn't grumble, Edinburgh's only had 130% of usual rainfall, unlike other parts which have had 225%+. And we had sun ( and wind) today.
