The Merry month of May (not)

I don't know about anyone else, but so far where I am, this month it's been cold, windy and rainy nearly every day this month.

The main thing has been the cold and winds. Surely surely May is meant to be sunny? Isn't it? And warm?

Same here (NI). The last couple of years we've had a couple of sunny, warm weeks in May. I'm fed up of wearing jumpers and having the heating on!

BlackeyedSusan · 18/05/2015 13:06

but april was lovely. perhaps April got fed up of being showery and swapped with may.

TheColdDoesBotherMeAnyway · 18/05/2015 14:21

Tell me about it! I want sunshine and warm days in the garden like this time last year - not daily rain, heating kicking in in the mornings (it's set to 18 so not exactly high!) and getting blown around on the school run Sad
When's summer coming back please OYBBK?

GloriaSmud · 19/05/2015 14:44

There have been some quite lively showers over the last 2 days and there are quite a few lightning strikes showing up here.
Think it's looking better and a bit warmer for the weekend!

TheColdDoesBotherMeAnyway · 19/05/2015 16:17

We had the hail and lightening here this afternoon

I saw a met office statement last night about a warm June?

meglet · 19/05/2015 23:56

on the plus side; at least the weeds aren't taking over at the allotment.

The veg is hanging in there, very slow growing though.

GloriaSmud · 21/05/2015 06:44

Looks like it's going to be a 'getting warmer' sort of weekend but rain (Sunday) and showers (Monday) forecast. So not a great Bank Holiday weekend but not as bad as could be.

GaryBaldy · 21/05/2015 07:08

Yes please if like to order some good weather if poss. Sick of still wearing boots and jeans. I want to wear flip flops and summer dresses.

We had hail and thunder this week. Confused

digerd · 21/05/2015 07:17

SE.
Fed up here too of the cold nights and heating coming on in the mornings. My stat is set for 21.

My magnificent climbing roses have gone on strike/are being reluctant to bloom this year. The dandy lions, however, have enjoyed sowing their wild seeds in a frenzy this month and the grass is growing like mad.

Sun just emerged Smile
Hope that cold wind has gone.

GloriaSmud · 22/05/2015 17:44

Apart from the rain moving through on Sunday, it's not looking too bad a Bank Holiday Monday/early part of next week. After Wednesday/late next week, looks like normal service resumes with rain/showers.

digerd did you feel anything of the earthquake this morning?

fiveacres · 22/05/2015 17:45

It's strange isn't it? Normally cracking flags whenever kids do exams ... [brolly]

GloriaSmud · 22/05/2015 18:29

It does seem to be a cycle of a day each of rain, sun, cloud, rain, sun.....etc at the moment with an air of not being 'nearly summer' about it all.

Orangeanddemons · 22/05/2015 20:37

We're not getting much sun. More like a cycle of rain, drizzle, dull repeat, and always very windy

GloriaSmud · 25/05/2015 10:14

How's everyone's Bank Holiday going? 'Tis all a bit meh here and not very warm (12C, Leicester)

Orangeanddemons · 25/05/2015 13:04

Same as ever. Grey, cold, cloudy, brisk wind....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/05/2015 13:09

Have to say the weather is looking very mediocre right out into early June. We seem to be stuck in this pattern :(

TheColdDoesBotherMeAnyway · 25/05/2015 17:04

It's dry here (S.Wales) but so cold! Saturday was gorgeous, yesterday started wet but warmed up in the afternoon but today is grey, cold and uninspiring. I'm bored now! Where's spring? Sad

meglet · 26/05/2015 22:47

I'm just about to spray tan my white legs. That's how bad it is.

Where is the sun? My bones need warming up and I'm sick of layering up to go out.

tormentil · 28/05/2015 13:19

Hailstones on west coast of Scotland this morning. Needed a hat whilst walking. The met office is giving our area 'feels like' temps of 3 - 7 degrees for the next week. Getting depressing...

GloriaSmud · 29/05/2015 07:47

Yesterday was quite nice here, we even managed a BBQ at lunchtime although it was a bit windy!
There could be good news on the horizon ~ after the middle of next week/towards next weekend it looks like things could improve, temperatures might even be able to be described as 'quite warm' or 'really quite warm!' (usual disclaimer that it's still a week away and could change.)

digerd · 29/05/2015 18:55

Gloria

No, I didn't notice the earthquake but live in S Herts.

I did wake due to a loud bang last night but I may have dreamt it as dog didn't react Hmm .
The wind was extra cold today [fed up face]

Perihelion · 29/05/2015 19:43

There was snow forecast for the hills yesterday. We don't seem to get above 12C but with a cold wind. However the clouds this week have been awesome.

digerd · 30/05/2015 07:22

Only 6 degrees minimum last night Confused
