A FB friend said it will be a heatwave - will it? I'll be in the Isle of Wight (west Wight) so difficult to predict I know.

Just came on here to ask the same as I have just read that there will not be a heat wave and a strong possibility that a cold front will move over the UK around the 3-4th of April bring snow to higher ground and some at lover levels Shock I hope to god this isn't true and we get some spring type weather, I don't want to be stuck in for the easter holidays stuffing myself with Easter eggs.

GloriaSmud · 24/03/2015 13:01

I've done a 'copy and paste' here but this is what I put in the 'late winter thread' when I took a quick (very amateur!) look this morning ~ 'it looks like it's going to be warm at the beginning of next week but cools off again mid to end of the week/towards the Easter weekend. Could be the possibility of rain for the north of England and Scotland mid-end of next week.'

I did notice there's the possibility of something cold/wintry at the end of next week but tried to ignore it in the hope it won't happen as it's the holidays!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/03/2015 14:02

I really think it's impossible to call at present, with high pressure close by but potentially pulling in a cold northerly feed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/03/2015 07:36

Still knife edge stuff and I expect it will remain so for a bit but....

At present Gfs shows it looking nice and warm for Good Friday through to Easter Sunday, thenEaster Monday the weather rather crashes back into cold with heavy rain moving in from the north.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 26/03/2015 08:46

No heat wave showing in this mornings model run. Cool/cold (frosty!) but dry for most.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/03/2015 08:24

We've swung back to Good Friday and Easter Saturday looking pretty pleasant away from northern Scotland. Easter Sunday and Monday being cooler and perhaps wet in Scotland on Monday.

CruCru · 27/03/2015 11:48

Ah wicked, thanks!

You are welcome - although you can rip up that forecast Grin
latest one is now for pretty cold on Good Friday and Easter Saturday (frosts for campers and gardeners!) but warmer on Easter Sunday and Monday. Maybe a little rain for England on the Sunday, and still the potential for rain in Scotland on the Monday.

CruCru · 27/03/2015 13:15

Really? We almost never get frosts in the IoW. I'd better get my roses planted on Tuesday.

I remember camping on the IOW in the snow one Easter when dd was little. I vaguely wondered whether we might die from cold as we got in to our sleeping bags!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/03/2015 08:42

Ok. Changed again.
Good Friday - temps just scraping double figures on the south coast rapidly cooler as you move north. Almost literally freezing in Scotland. Damp for many with perhaps some rain.

Saturday - much drier. But not a warm day.

EasterSunday - ditto.

Easter Monday - warmer in the South. Potentially wet in Scotland.

Hi OYBBK, what in your opinion is the wind direction/speed looking like? Nice drying chilly northerlies or horrid wet rough westerlies (or variations thereof? :o )

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/03/2015 18:43

The latest model run looks decidedly damper for the second half now with northerlies for the first half of the weekend swinging to westerlies as we go through the weekend.

StrumpersPlunkett · 28/03/2015 19:33

Dearest OYBBK,
please can you tell me what to do Easter Monday, Punting on the river Cam or inside a museum?
need to arrange a get together with brilliant friends.
Yours in complete reliance.
Strumpers

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/03/2015 19:35

Eep. If the models would settle and show some consistency then I'd be able to gIve you some sensible advice. I'm planning an outdoors day on Easter Monday and I'm not cancelling yet if that helps?

StrumpersPlunkett · 28/03/2015 19:47

Why thank you kind lady Smile

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/03/2015 20:31

You are most welcome :)

HesterShaw · 29/03/2015 12:24

Thank you! Changing every minute on Magic Seaweed!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/03/2015 19:25

ooo, Easter Monday looks nice in the latest model run - 16 degrees or so.

StrumpersPlunkett · 31/03/2015 16:25

yay!! thank you lovely lady.

GloriaSmud · 02/04/2015 21:38

Still signing in from a static caravan just outside York where it's been a beautiful warm day here and after tomorrow, which looks rather wet, the weekend is looking good! Unfortunately my Dad texted me earlier to say that my archway in the back garden that was just beginning to get this years growth of honeysuckle growing up it, didn't survive the high winds earlier this week. Sad That's a job that'll need sorting when we get back.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 02/04/2015 22:23

That's a shame Gloria :(
After tomorrow's rain it looks decidedly better. Not very warm for the weekend though.

digerd · 03/04/2015 07:47

SE

It turned very warm and sunny yesterday afternoon at 2pm, but by 5pm it was cooler.

Today is rainy, dismal and 7degrees atm.

BlackeyedSusan · 03/04/2015 15:54
